Caps with Logo: Snapbacks, Baseball Caps and Winter Hats

A practical guide to ordering caps with a logo — embroidery technical requirements, models from the catalogue, indicative prices and turnaround times.

Baseball cap, snapback and winter hat with embroidered logo

Caps with a logo are most often printed using embroidery, as it withstands washing and keeps its shape on a curved front panel. The minimum order for embroidery is 10 pieces, a finished cap with single-position embroidery costs approximately 6 to 14 EUR per piece (excl. VAT, depending on the model and quantity), and the production time is 5-10 business days. One-off logo digitising (preparing the embroidery programme) costs approximately 20-35 EUR and is saved for future orders.

Why embroidery is used for caps instead of printing

The front panel of a cap is curved and often reinforced with buckram, so classic screen printing doesn't work there. Embroidery follows the shape of the fabric, doesn't crack, and looks practically unchanged after 30-40 washes.

We use DTF transfers on caps less often — mainly for flat surfaces, sides, or unconventional materials. For example, embroidery isn't possible on the Pricus straw hat, so only a transfer works there. For knitted winter hats, in addition to embroidery you can also use a patch: the Boreas hat is already designed for a patch solution, and you can attach either a canvas or faux-leather patch with an engraved or embroidered logo.

Three cap types and when to choose each

Snapback and baseball cap

A 5- or 6-panel cap with a peak is the most universal solution for teams, café staff and events. On 5-panel models the front panel is a single piece, so the logo can be embroidered larger and without a seam running through the middle. On 6-panel models the seam runs down the centre — in that case we either centre the logo symmetrically or move it to a side panel.

Most frequently ordered models from our catalogue:

  • Feniks 5-panel cap with peak, 175 g/m², cotton, 14 colours — widest colour range, good everyday cap
  • Feniks Kids 5-panel cap, 175 g/m², cotton, 6 colours — for schools, children's camps, sports schools
  • Doyle 5-panel cap, 260 g/m², 11 colours — thicker fabric, holds its shape better
  • Davis 6-panel cap, 260 g/m², 11 colours — classic baseball cap shape
  • Styx 5-panel cap, 175 g/m², with sandwich-style peak, 5 colours — contrasting edge on the peak
  • Ares 6-panel cap, 175 g/m², 5 colours — lighter, for summer events
  • Drift Snapback 6-panel cap, 260 g/m², 5 colours — flat peak and snapback closure
  • Trucker 5-panel cap, 100 g/m², polyester, 8 colours — with mesh back, breathable
  • Onyx 5-panel cap, 240 g/m², made from recycled materials, 5 colours — if the project needs a sustainability angle

Knitted winter hat

The ordering season for winter hats starts in August, but now, in March, is the most logical time to plan next autumn's batch without rushing. The catalogue includes the Irwin knitted hat (7 colours) and the Boreas hat with a patch (11 colours). For knitted material, embroidery is done with a sparser stitch density so the fabric doesn't pucker — fine 1 pt lettering can't be reproduced there.

Summer and additional models

The Solaris sun hat (cotton, 175 g/m², 6 colours) suits outdoor events and children's camps, while the Heracles bandana (5 colours) suits sports clubs and festivals.

Indicative prices

The table shows the price of a finished cap with single-position embroidery up to 6,000 stitches, excl. VAT. The price includes the cap and embroidery, but not the one-off digitising fee.

How to prepare a logo for embroidery

Embroidery isn't printing — every line is formed by thread, so there are physical limitations:

  • File: vector graphics .ai, .eps or .pdf. Raster JPG or PNG files work only as a reference and will still need to be redrawn.
  • Minimum letter height: 5 mm. Below that, letters blend together, especially on knitted fabric.
  • Line thickness: at least 0.8 mm.
  • Colours: embroidery threads are chosen based on a Pantone reference or from a thread palette. Realistically, up to 6-8 colours per logo; gradients and transparency can't be reproduced.
  • Standard front panel area: approximately 100 x 50 mm for 5-panel models, 60 x 50 mm for 6-panel models on one side of the seam.

Before production, we send a visualisation showing the logo placement on the chosen model. For larger orders (100+ pcs), we can produce a sample by agreement.

Turnaround and logistics

The standard turnaround is 5-10 business days from design approval: a couple of days for cap delivery from the catalogue, the rest of the time for embroidery. Urgent jobs are always agreed on separately.

If caps are part of a wider set — T-shirts, sweatshirts or other promotional products with a logo — we produce everything in one order with matched embroidery size and a single thread palette. Clothing printing options can be viewed in the clothing printing section.

Frequently asked questions

What's the minimum quantity of caps with embroidery?

10 pieces per design. For smaller quantities, including 1-5 pieces, we offer a patch or DTF transfer, where setup costs are lower.

How much does preparing a logo for embroidery cost?

One-off digitising costs approximately 20-35 EUR depending on logo complexity. We save the file, so this fee isn't charged again for repeat orders.

Can you print on caps that I bring myself?

Yes, we also work with customer-supplied items. It's best to send photos in advance and specify the material composition — for some synthetic and reinforced fabrics, embroidery parameters need to be adjusted. We're not liable for customer-supplied fabric damaged during sewing.

Can embroidery be placed on the back or side of a cap?

Yes. Side panels and the back are available positions on all 5- and 6-panel models. The back is often used for a smaller embroidered website address or founding year.

Which model suits a sports club with heavy use?

The Trucker 5-panel cap (polyester, mesh back) or the Doyle 260 g/m² — the former is more breathable, the latter holds its shape better. Both are available in several colours, so you can put together team and supporter versions.

How long does embroidery last?

When washed at 30°C, embroidery lasts the entire service life of the cap. Machine-washing caps isn't recommended because of the buckram reinforcement, not because of the embroidery.

Send us your logo and planned quantity at info@attaprint.lv or message us on WhatsApp at +371 25776699 — we'll prepare a quote with model options and a visualisation within one business day. At our location at Kandavas iela 29A, Riga, we can show you cap samples and the embroidery thread palette.
