Building Information Signs: A Guide for Property Managers

Which building information signs, stairwell notice holders and logo door stickers a property manager needs, what materials suit indoor and façade use, plus prices and turnaround times.

Building Information Signs: A Guide for Property Managers

Building information signs for a typical block of flats usually come to 8–15 items: a contact plate for the property manager at the entrance, an emergency service door sticker, floor and flat numbers, waste sorting signage, technical room labels and an A4 notice holder in the stairwell. As a rough guide, one entrance costs 60–150 EUR excl. VAT depending on material, and we produce a standard set in 1–3 business days.

What a typical building needs

Property managers tend to order from a fairly similar list. If you're drawing up a procurement spec for several buildings, it's easier to split it into three groups.

  • Permanent signs – the property manager's name and contact details at the entrance, emergency service number, building address sign, floor and flat numbers, technical room labels (heating unit, electrical panel, basement).
  • Safety and rules signs – "No smoking", "CCTV in operation", evacuation plan, fire equipment signage, waste sorting instructions by the bins.
  • Variable information – notices about water shut-offs, repair works, general meetings, billing changes. These are printed on paper and placed in an A4 holder or stand frame rather than stuck directly to the wall.

In practice, the third group causes the biggest headache: if notices are taped straight onto a painted wall, the stairwell looks untidy within a year. A holder or simple stand solves this for several years at once.

Materials: what suits indoor use and what suits a façade

The choice is mainly between self-adhesive vinyl, PVC board and laminated paper. Each has its place.

Façade building signPVC or composite, UV-resistant printA2from 25 EUR/pc
Stairwell notice170 g/m² paperA3from 1.20 EUR/pc at 25 pcs

Prices are indicative and vary depending on quantity, material and whether contour cutting is needed. For identical designs across multiple buildings, printing 20–50 items at once brings the per-piece price down significantly. For stickers and signs, see our stickers section; for larger formats, see large-format printing.

Common mistakes

Standard vinyl doesn't stick well to freshly painted or rough walls – a PVC board with double-sided tape or screws works better there. On glass doors, transparent stickers with a white backing layer work best, otherwise the logo disappears against the background. For outdoor signs, always ask for UV-resistant printing, as standard eco-solvent print without lamination fades within a year and a half on a south-facing wall.

Notice templates and how to lay them out

If a property manager handles 50 buildings, a notice isn't a one-off document – it's a template. We prepare an A4 or A3 form with the logo, contact details and a blank field for text, printed in advance in a larger batch; the office then fills in the text themselves or orders it with us along with the next batch. An alternative is full digital printing for each notice; at 25–100 copies this is cheaper than it sounds, and the look stays consistent. Forms, folders, business cards and other office materials are printed in our digital printing section.

A useful trick: add a QR code in the corner of the notice linking to the property manager's portal or an emergency request form. This cuts down on phone calls and lets residents report issues outside office hours.

Team clothing and materials for site visits

Maintenance and emergency teams usually need recognisable clothing with a logo – screen printing on shirts for larger quantities, DTF transfer or embroidery for smaller batches. Standard print areas: left chest 110×90 mm, back up to 280×210 mm, embroidery up to 90×90 mm. More on the technologies in our clothing printing section.

Files and turnaround times

Send logos and plans as vector graphics (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg), CMYK; 300 dpi for photos. If you only have a scanned image of a sign, we'll redraw it – the redrawing fee is specified in the quote against the relevant item.

Frequently asked questions

Do you make signs for a single property, or do we need to order a large batch?

We work with orders of 1 piece too. A single sign costs more per piece, since machine setup costs the same regardless of quantity; ordering 20–50 items at once brings the per-piece price down significantly.

How long does a sticker on an outdoor door last?

Laminated vinyl lasts 3–5 years outdoors in Latvia's climate. Without lamination and on a sunny side, expect 1.5–2 years. Indoors in a stairwell, vinyl and PVC boards last well over five years.

Can you make signs to a single template for our whole building portfolio?

Yes. We prepare one template where only the address and contact details change, then print an individual version for each building. The template only needs approving once; subsequent orders don't incur a repeat setup fee.

Do you print evacuation plans?

We print and laminate plans in A3 and A2 format based on your drawing in vector format. Compliance of the plan's content with regulations is the responsibility of whoever drafted it; we're responsible for print quality and materials.

How much does an A4 notice holder with a printed header cost?

A holder with a printed property manager header made of PVC costs roughly from 12 EUR excl. VAT at 10 pcs. The exact price depends on size, mounting type and quantity.

How does ordering work?
