Lanyards with Logo: Materials, Fastenings and Badge Holders

A guide to choosing lanyards with logo: width, material, carabiners and safety breakaways, badge holders and indicative prices from EUR 0.12.

Lorenzo card holder

Lanyards with logo for events and offices are most commonly ordered as 15–20 mm wide polyester lanyards with a metal carabiner and safety breakaway — indicatively from EUR 0.29 per piece at 100 pcs, excl. VAT. Badge holders (rigid or transparent) start from EUR 0.12/pc, and both can be printed with your logo — the lanyard with screen printing, sublimation or DTF transfer, the holder with pad printing. Production time with printing is usually 6–10 business days.

Which material to choose

The material determines both the feel in hand and how precisely your logo will look on the lanyard.

  • Polyester — the most common choice. Smooth surface, holds screen printing and sublimation well, washable and durable. Example: Lago lanyard with detachable buckle.
  • Recycled PET — visually almost identical to polyester, but a stronger sustainability argument for municipal and corporate events. Example: Tom recycled PET lanyard.
  • Cord-type solutions — thinner, convenient for carrying a phone, but suitable only for small printed logos or stickers.
  • Combinations with wood or bamboo — decorative details that can be laser engraved with your logo, for example Adhab smartphone cord with bamboo details.

Width and printing options

On narrow 10 mm lanyards, only text or a simple single-colour mark fits well. 15 mm is the standard for conferences — enough room for a logo and short text. A 20–25 mm lanyard allows a full-colour image along the entire length, including a repeated pattern or a row of sponsor logos. A simple logo is well served by screen printing in 1–2 colours; if your logo has a gradient or photo, choose sublimation or DTF transfer.

Fastenings: what they change in practice

The fastening is the detail most often overlooked, yet it's exactly what decides whether the badge breaks on day two of the event.

FasteningWhere it fitsWhat to consider
Metal carabiner (hook)Conferences, exhibitions, one-off eventsCheapest and most durable solution; fits plastic holders with a hole
Rotating carabinerOffices, factories, where the card is frequently presented to a readerCard rotates, the lanyard doesn't twist
Detachable buckleWhen the lanyard stays on the neck but the card is removedLets you hand the card to a colleague or tap it on a terminal
Safety breakawaySchools, factories, children's eventsLanyard releases under pull — a mandatory requirement in many workplace safety guidelines
Phone holderReception desks, guides, event teamsLanyard doubles as a phone strap, logo visible all day

A practical combination for a conference: a 15–20 mm polyester lanyard, a rotating carabiner and a safety breakaway. For a factory or school, the safety breakaway is the first requirement, colour comes second.

Badge holders

Choosing a holder is simpler, but it affects how tidy the badge looks over time.

  • Rigid plastic holder — protects the card from bending, suitable for permanent staff badges. Example: Lorenzo card holder, printable with pad printing in one colour.
  • Transparent holder — the cheapest option, convenient for one-day events where we print the cards ourselves: Serge transparent card holder.
  • No holder at all — if the badge is printed on 300–350 gsm card with lamination, a punched hole is often enough. We print such cards with digital printing within 1–3 business days.

It's worth separately calculating how many badges you actually need: events often order 300 lanyards but only 150 holders — for organisers and speakers, since a single-sided card is enough for attendees.

Files and timelines

Send your logo as vector artwork (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg), colours in CMYK or Pantone; raster images need at least 300 dpi. For screen printing, specify the exact number of colours — each additional colour carries a separate setup fee. For sublimation and DTF, the number of colours doesn't affect the price.

Printed lanyards are usually ready in 6–10 business days (production 4–7 business days depending on quantity, plus 2–3 days delivery). If your event is close, let us know the date right away — urgent orders are arranged by agreement. We print badge cards at our own facility at Kandavas iela 29A, Riga, within 1–3 business days, so they can be added later once the attendee list is confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

What's the minimum order for lanyards with a logo?

We also work with small quantities, but an economically sensible starting point is 100 pcs, as the setup fee is spread across the whole batch. At 250–500 pcs the price per piece is already noticeably lower.

Which printing method is more durable — screen printing or sublimation?

Screen printing is durable and cheaper for simple 1–2 colour logos. Sublimation becomes part of the fabric fibre, so it doesn't wear off and allows a full-colour image along the entire length of the lanyard on both sides — it's the best choice for complex logos and gradients.

Is a safety breakaway mandatory?

Regulations don't explicitly require it in every case, but in schools, factories and places with moving equipment it's standard practice. If you're unsure, choose a model with a breakaway — the price difference is a few cents.

Can you also print the badge cards?

Yes. We print cards digitally from 1 pc, with or without lamination, with a punched hole or personalised names and QR codes as needed.

How long does it take to get a quote?

We send a quote with product images, prices, print area, setup fee and timeline for each item online and in PDF format within one business day. On request, we also prepare a 3D mock-up with your logo.

Can lanyards be combined with other event materials?

Yes, the most common package is lanyards, badges, a roll-up banner stand and T-shirts for organisers — everything can be ordered together with a single artwork approval.
