Company Flags and a Flagpole for a Factory: a Project Example from Riga

How we made three flags and chose an 8 m flagpole for a factory in Riga: sizes, fabrics, indicative prices from EUR 65 and lead times of 5–7 business days.

Three company flags on flagpoles at a factory entrance

Company flags are one of the most affordable forms of long-term outdoor advertising: printing a 100×200 cm flag costs around EUR 65 (excl. VAT) upwards, a 6–8 m flagpole costs roughly from EUR 380 to 550, and a well-chosen fabric flag in an open location lasts 1.5–3 years. In this article we show a real project: for a factory in Riga's industrial district we made three 150×250 cm flags and helped choose a group of 8 m flagpoles for the entrance. The client allowed us to publish photos but asked us not to name the company, so here we focus on the technical side and the numbers.

The task: a noticeable entrance without annual replacement

The factory site is located at the edge of the road, where only the gate area is visible from the carriageway. Previously there were two PVC banners on the fence, which after a year and a half had faded and come loose at one corner. The client's requirement was simple: a solution that doesn't need changing every season, and that works in winter too, when dusk falls as early as 4 pm.

We prepared two options: new banners mounted on the fence, or a group of three flagpoles with flags. In the quote we included the costs of both options over a three-year period, including expected replacement. The client chose the flagpoles, since flags are visible from a greater distance, and after three years only the fabric needs replacing, not the whole structure.

What we made

  • Three flags, 150×250 cm — sublimation printing on 115 g/m² polyester knit fabric, double-sided printing with a blocking inner layer so the logo on the reverse side isn't a mirror image.
  • Edging — a double seam on all edges, with a polyester rope fitted into the vertical edge with two carabiners and an anti-wind rubber shock absorber.
  • Corner reinforcement — an extra triple-layer seam on the free (fluttering) edge, as this is where wear starts first.
  • Three aluminium flagpoles, 8 m, with an internal cable and a lockable inspection hatch; we organised installation with a concrete base ourselves.

The flags were made in 6 business days; delivery and installation of the flagpoles took a further two weeks or so, including time for the concrete to set.

How to match flag size to flagpole height

A practical ratio: the flag's length should be roughly a quarter to a third of the flagpole's height. A flag that's too large for a short pole will flap against the pole and wear out within a couple of months; a flag that's too small on a tall pole simply won't be legible.

Prices are indicative, excl. VAT and excluding installation work. Concreting the base, depending on the ground, costs roughly from EUR 200 per flagpole.

When ordering 3 or more flags of the same design, the price per piece drops by roughly 15–25%. We also work with single pieces — for example, if you need to replace just one worn flag from an existing set. The exact price depends on size, single- or double-sided printing, and quantity.

When a banner works better than a flag

If the site is screened by a fence, hedge, or sits deep within a yard, a flag will disappear into the background. In such cases we recommend a PVC banner or a perforated mesh banner on the fence — read more about these solutions on our banners and roll-up stands page. In practice, we often combine both: flags at the entrance and a banner near the door with specific information.

How long a flag really lasts

In an open location with constant wind, a polyester flag keeps its appearance for roughly 12–18 months; in a sheltered spot or an urban setting, 2–3 years. Wear begins at the free edge, so we recommend checking the seams every six months; a small tear can be re-stitched in time, giving you another season of use.

Two practical tips we also gave this client: lower the flag in strong wind (above 15 m/s), and don't raise a wet flag in winter — frozen fabric on the flagpole wears out fastest. Many clients order a spare set of flags straight away, since for repeat orders the print file is already prepared and production takes just 5 business days.

File requirements

Flags require vector artwork (.ai, .eps or .pdf) in CMYK colour space. Leave at least a 3 cm trim margin around the design, and keep important elements at least 5 cm from the edges, since the rope is fitted into the vertical edge. If you only have a logo in raster format, we can redraw it in vector; this service costs roughly from EUR 25.

If you're refreshing your whole visual materials range at the same time, take a look at our other printing services in our catalogue — we often make vehicle stickers and branded staff clothing in the same order as flags.

FAQ

How much do company flags with a logo cost?

A standard 100×200 cm flag with single-sided sublimation printing costs roughly from EUR 65 excl. VAT, a double-sided 150×250 cm flag from EUR 145. When ordering three or more identical flags, the price per piece drops by 15–25%.

Is a double-sided printed flag the same as a single-sided one?

No. On a single-sided flag the reverse side is a mirror image, and the text reads backwards. A double-sided flag has two fabric layers with a blocking inner layer, so the logo appears correctly on both sides. The price difference is roughly double.

How long does it take to receive flags and a flagpole?

Producing the flags takes 5–8 business days depending on size and quantity. Delivery and installation of a flagpole with a concrete base takes roughly two to three weeks. Urgent flag orders can be made faster by separate arrangement.

What height of flagpole should I choose for a factory site?

If the site needs to be visible from a road 100–150 m away, an 8 m flagpole with a 150×250 cm flag works well in practice. A shorter 6 m flagpole suits a yard or entrance area, while 10 m is for open areas next to a highway.

Can I order just a new flag for an existing flagpole?

Yes. We'll need the flagpole height, the existing flag size, and the type of fastening (rope with carabiners or loops). We also make single pieces.
