Flag Poles and Bases: What to Choose for an Office or Production Site

A guide to choosing flag poles and bases — from 27.93 EUR for a pole and from 13.30 EUR for a base. Comparison by weight, location and wind load.

Beach Flag Pole Pro

A beach flag needs three parts: the printed flag fabric, the pole and the base. Flag poles in our catalogue cost from 27.93 EUR/pc (Standard) to 42.77 EUR/pc (Pro), bases — from 13.30 EUR for a sand ballast to 63.00 EUR for a 12 kg rectangular base. The right combination depends on whether the flag will stand in an office on tiles, on a production site on asphalt, or on a lawn by the entrance.

What's included in a flag set

The pole is telescopic — an aluminium lower section and a fibreglass upper section, which lets the flag bend in the wind instead of snapping. The flag fabric slides onto the pole like a sock and is secured with a cord at the base fitting.

The base or ground spike keeps the whole thing standing. If the base is too light, the flag falls over at the first gust and the fabric gets scratched on the asphalt — this is the most common mistake we see in repeat orders.

Accessories: a sand ballast for extra weight, a wall rotor if there's no ground space at all, and a carry bag if the flag travels to trade fairs and markets.

Choosing a pole: Standard, Pro or straight shape

Standard (from 27.93 EUR/pc) suits indoor use, exhibition stands and events where the flag stands for a few days. Available in 5 sizes/variants.

Pro (from 42.77 EUR/pc) is sturdier — we recommend it for production sites, car dealerships and locations where the flag stands outside all season and faces constant wind.

Straight-shape pole (from 38.01 EUR/pc) holds the fabric in a rectangular shape. This is the right choice if the flag has text, an address or a QR code — on a teardrop shape, text curves and becomes harder to read.

A practical rule of thumb

Indoors, 4 kg is enough. Outdoors, it's not worth going below 8 kg unless you're using a cross base with a sand ballast. On the coast and in open areas — go for 12 kg or a cross base Premium with ballast.

Office and production site scenarios

Office, client reception, indoor shop. Standard pole + rectangular 4 kg base. Together around 59 EUR excluding the flag fabric. The flag stays in one spot and can be moved by one person.

Production site or warehouse, flags at the gate all season. Pro pole + cross base Premium + sand ballast. A set costs around 115 EUR per spot. If flags stand in a row along the façade, companies usually order 3–5 sets of matching height.

Trade fairs and travelling events. Standard or straight-shape pole + cross base Classic + carry bag. A bag from 18.90 EUR protects the fabric and costs less than a new flag.

Narrow pavement or façade. A wall rotor for mounting the flag from 17.85 EUR — no ground base needed at all.

Examples from our catalogue

Flag fabric and artwork files

We print flags on polyester fabric using sublimation — the colour soaks into the fibre, so it doesn't peel and the fabric stays flexible. Double-sided printing means a mirrored image on the back; if you need fully readable, correctly oriented text on both sides, we make a two-layer flag with a blocking inner layer.

The artwork needs to be vector graphics (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) in CMYK mode, or raster at 300 dpi. It's important to keep a 50–70 mm safety margin from the edges — the bottom section is partly hidden behind the base fitting. Frequently asked questions

How heavy a base do I need for outdoor conditions?

In practice, at least 8 kg. If the location is open — a car park, a field, the coast — go for a 12 kg base or a cross base combined with a sand ballast. Indoors, 4 kg is enough.

Do the bases fit all poles?

Yes, the bases and ballasts in our catalogue are compatible with Standard, Pro and straight-shape poles. If you're pairing flags with an existing pole from another supplier, send us a photo of the fitting diameter.

Can I buy just the pole or just the base?

Yes. We take orders from 1 piece — companies often get new fabric for existing poles, or the other way round, an extra base for a new location.

How long does a flag set take to arrive?

Poles, bases and accessories with a printed flag usually take 6–10 business days: production 4–7 business days plus delivery 2–3 days. We review urgent jobs separately.

Can a flag be left outside in winter?

Technically yes, but the fabric fades and wears faster. We recommend taking flags down in winter and storing them in a carry bag — the pole and base will last several seasons, while you'll replace the fabric every 1–2 years.

Can the base be printed with a logo?

Bases are metal, single-colour and unprinted. Brand elements go on the flag fabric, which is also where the visibility area is largest.

Email info@attaprint.lv or call or WhatsApp us at +371 25776699 — tell us where the flag will stand and for how long, and we'll put together a set from a pole, base and ballast. We send a quote with prices, timelines and an artwork sketch within one business day; contact details here.
