Warehouse labelling stickers: floors, shelves, safety
A practical guide to warehouse labelling stickers: which materials stick to the floor, how to number shelves, and what sizes work for safety signs. With price guidelines and turnaround times.

In practice, warehouse labelling stickers fall into three groups: floor zone and aisle markings (laminated vinyl, usually 100×100 mm up to A3), shelf and addressing labels (PP film or vinyl, 30×50 mm up to 150×100 mm, with sequential numbering), and safety signs (laminated PP film or vinyl, A5–A4, full-colour print). We complete our print jobs within 1–3 business days, with options for contour cutting, sheets or rolls, and numbering with no repeat artwork fee per number.
What a full warehouse labelling set includes
If a warehouse is being labelled from scratch, you usually need all three layers at once: navigation (where to drive and walk), addressing (where to place what), and safety (what's hazardous or mandatory).
- Floor: pedestrian aisle boundaries, forklift zones, pallet position outlines, corner and junction warnings, "do not store here" areas.
- Shelving system: row numbers (A, B, C), section and level addresses (A-12-3), maximum load stickers for racks, barcode and QR labels for warehouse management systems.
- Safety and information: prohibition and warning signs, personal protective equipment signs, evacuation direction, fire extinguisher location, height restrictions at gates.
- Cargo and packaging labels: fragile cargo, weight, batch number, content and instruction labels for export, with translations.
Floor markings: materials and durability
The choice of floor material comes down to two things — surface roughness and whether forklifts drive over the sticker. On smooth concrete floors with an epoxy or polyurethane coating, laminated vinyl is enough: the adhesive grips well, and the lamination protects the print from friction and wet cleaning. On rough, untreated concrete, adhesion is uneven, so it's better to combine the vinyl sticker with a painted line or choose a thicker ramp-resistant tape.
Practical tips that extend service life:
- Rounded corners (contour cutting with R5–R10) — sharp corners are the first to peel off under a wheel.
- It's better to split larger areas into several pieces rather than apply a single 2 m long strip.
- The surface must be degreased before application; on freshly painted floors, wait at least 3–4 weeks.
- If you need an anti-slip laminate, mention this in your request — it changes both the material and the price.
For wider floor zones and large directional areas, we work with large-format printing, where the maximum width lets us print whole aisle sections without seams.
Shelf and addressing labels
For shelf labelling, PP film is usually sufficient — it's less expensive than vinyl, doesn't tear, and withstands a damp cloth. If the label will be exposed to cold, condensation, or outdoor humidity (for example, shelving in an outdoor hangar), choose laminated vinyl instead.
Sizes that work
| Application | Recommended size | Material |
|---|---|---|
| Level/section address on a beam | 100×50 or 150×50 mm | PP film, laminated |
| Row number on a rack (visible from a distance) | 200×200 mm or A4 | Vinyl or laminated PP |
| Barcode / QR for scanner reading | 50×30 or 70×40 mm | PP film, matte |
| Maximum load label | A5 | Laminated PP film |
| Floor zone marking | 100×100 mm up to A3 | Laminated vinyl |
| Safety sign at doors/gates | A5–A4 | Laminated PP or vinyl |
We print barcodes and QR codes on matte material — a glossy surface reflects under warehouse lighting, and the scanner can't read the code. We prepare numbering series (A-01 through A-96 and beyond) in a single file, and the artwork fee is charged once for the whole series.
Safety signs: what to consider
Safety sign symbols and colours follow set standards, so we print according to the artwork you provide, or standard pictograms that we agree on together. The key technical requirement is contrast and size: an A5 sign is clearly readable from 3–4 m, an A4 sign from 6–8 m. If the sign needs to be visible from a forklift cab along the entire length of an aisle, it's better to choose a poster in A3–A0 format and frame or laminate it.
A single order usually combines sticker sheets, posters, and a couple of PVC boards for outdoor gates — this works out better on both price and delivery.

Files and turnaround
Artwork should be submitted as vector graphics (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg), CMYK; raster images at 300 dpi. If you only have an Excel file with shelf addresses, send it over — we'll prepare the artwork for you. Once the artwork is approved by email, printing follows: stickers, posters and business cards take 1–3 business days; promotional products with logo printing take 6–10 business days (production 4–7 days + delivery 2–3 days). Urgent jobs can be arranged by agreement. You can view examples of previous work in the Our Work section.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a floor sticker withstand forklift traffic?
On a smooth, clean, coated concrete floor, laminated vinyl in pedestrian zones typically lasts 12 months or longer. In spots where forklift wheels drive directly over the sticker while turning, the realistic lifespan is 3–6 months, so we recommend ordering these elements with a reserve for replacement.
Can you print shelf numbers with sequential numbering?
Yes. Send us a list or a range (for example, A-01-1 to D-24-4), and we'll prepare a single file with all the variants. The artwork fee is charged once for the whole series, not per individual number.
What material suits cold storage and freezers?
For cold environments we use vinyl with cold-resistant adhesive; it's best to apply the sticker in a warm room on a dry surface and only then move the shelf into the cold, since adhesive doesn't grip well on a frosted surface.
Can barcode labels be ordered on rolls?
We can print both sheets and rolls with a specified winding direction and inner diameter to suit your label applicator. We use matte material for barcodes so the scanner can read them without glare.
What's the minimum order quantity?
We also work with orders of just 1 piece — for example, a single A5 safety sign or a couple of posters. As quantity increases, the price per piece drops; the biggest jump is usually around 100–250 pcs.
Can you come and measure the warehouse?
We usually agree on the labelling plan based on your printed layout or photos with measurements — it's faster that way. If the site is in Riga and the volume is large, a site visit can be arranged separately.
Send us your shelf list, measurements, or simply photos of your warehouse to info@attaprint.lv, call us, or message us on WhatsApp +371 25776699 — we'll prepare a quote with materials, prices, and timelines within one business day. Contact details: attaprint.lv/kontakti.
