Insulated Vests with Logo for Staff: Fill Types and Sizing

A guide to insulated vests with logo: fill types, size charts, embroidery placement and prices from EUR 7.95/pc at 100 pieces.

Oslo men's insulated vest

Insulated vests with logo are one of the most practical outdoor work garments for Latvian conditions: in our catalogue they start from EUR 7.95/pc (lightweight running vests at 100 pcs), synthetic-filled insulated vests range from EUR 15–30/pc, while down vests cost EUR 54–58/pc at 100 pieces, excl. VAT and excl. printing. The standard logo placement is on the left chest — embroidery up to 90×90 mm — while a larger design is better suited to the upper back. Below you'll find how to choose the fill, how to sort sizes for your team, and how long production takes.

Which fill suits which purpose

Filled vests in our catalogue fall into three practical groups, and the choice depends on whether the vest is worn as an outer layer or under a jacket.

  • Synthetic fill (polypropylene wadding, 100–180 g/m²) — the universal choice for company vests. It keeps you warm even when damp, withstands frequent washing at 30 °C, and is best suited for embroidery, since the outer fabric (usually 100% polyester taslan or ripstop) doesn't ripple.
  • Down or down-type fill — lighter and warmer at the same thickness, but more expensive and more sensitive to moisture. Suits representative teams, events and management. Embroidery here is done carefully, with a stabilising backing, to avoid piercing the fill chambers.
  • Fleece and softshell without fill — a mid-layer or spring/autumn option. A fleece vest is the cheapest solution for a team, while softshell is more wind-resistant and better suited to construction or logistics work.

What to choose for outdoor work

If the vest is your team's year-round outdoor garment, a two-piece set works well in practice: a softshell or fleece vest for warmer weather and a synthetic-filled insulated vest from October to March. The same embroidery file can be used for both, so the setup fee is only paid once.

Sizing: how to avoid ordering too small

Filled vests are usually available in S–3XL men's/unisex and S–2XL women's cuts. The two most common pitfalls:

  1. The vest is worn over a hoodie or fleece. In this case, order one size up from what the employee wears in a T-shirt. We always flag this in the quote if the vest is meant for outdoor work.
  2. Unisex cut for women. For fleece and running vests, a unisex model is acceptable, but for insulated vests a women's cut (e.g. the Oslo or Pallas women's model) fits noticeably better — it's worth ordering both.

Before a large batch, we recommend ordering 2–3 size samples — we also work with orders of 1 piece. For a size breakdown across 50 employees, a realistic guideline is S 5%, M 20%, L 30%, XL 25%, 2XL 15%, 3XL 5%, but it's more accurate to collect sizes from staff using a simple table.

Where to place the embroidery

A vest has no sleeves, so there's less usable space than on a jacket. Standard solutions:

PlacementMaximum sizeSuitable for

Upper backup to 280×210 mmCompany name, slogan, website
Right chestup to 90×90 mmEmployee name, job title, department
Back collar / hemapprox. 60×25 mmDiscreet mark for representative vests

For insulated vests we almost always recommend embroidery rather than heat transfer: thread withstands washing and abrasion, while DTF film on a heavily filled, slippery polyester surface can peel away near seams. The exception is multicolour photo-type images and fine gradients, where embroidery isn't technically feasible; in that case we use a DTF transfer on a flatter surface. More on methods in the garment printing section.

Files and artwork

The logo needs to be in vector format (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg). For embroidery, we additionally prepare a digitised programme — a one-off setup fee that doesn't repeat on future orders with the same logo. We send the artwork with the placement and size marked for approval by email, and on request a 3D preview with your logo on your chosen vest colour.

Frequently asked questions

Is embroidery or heat transfer better for a vest?

For an insulated vest — embroidery. It withstands washing and friction and looks neat on structured polyester. We only use DTF transfer when the logo is multicolour or has gradients, and we place it on as flat an area as possible.

How big can a logo be on the chest of a vest?

The standard left-chest placement is up to 110×90 mm, with embroidery typically up to 90×90 mm in practice. For larger designs we use the upper back, up to 280×210 mm.

Do I need to order a larger size if the vest is worn over a hoodie?

Yes. If the vest is meant as an outer layer over fleece or a hoodie, we recommend going one size up. Unisex models fit more loosely, while women's cuts are narrower.

What's the minimum order quantity?

We also work with orders of 1 piece, though the embroidery setup fee makes a single piece more expensive. A reasonable economic threshold usually starts at 10–15 pieces, with the lowest price per piece at 100 pieces.

Can I order a sample before the large batch?

Yes, we can supply a sample separately — once the size and colour are approved, we include them in the main order.

What format should the logo be sent in?

Vector format: .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg. If you only have a raster file, let us know — we'll assess whether it can be redrawn for embroidery.

Send us your number of employees, size breakdown (if already known) and logo to info@attaprint.lv, or message us on WhatsApp at +371 25776699 — we'll prepare a quote with product images, print placement, setup fee and turnaround within one business day. You can also call +371 25776699 if you need help choosing between a synthetic or down fill.
