What makes up the price of a notebook

The final price is shaped by four factors: the product itself (format, number of pages, cover material, binding), the printing technology, the number of colours and the order quantity. One-off costs — a cliché for screen printing or a die for heat stamping — stay the same whether you order 50 or 500 notebooks, which is why they make up a larger share of the price for small quantities.

The second key factor is the printing area. A 40×20 mm logo in pad printing costs considerably less than a full-cover print with a coloured background. For spiral notebooks with a litho-printed cardboard cover, full-colour printing is often already included in the product price — there's no separate charge for colours in that case.

How to choose between A5 and A6

A6 (105×148 mm) is a pocket format — suited to conference bags, giveaways at events and large quantities where the price per piece matters. A5 (148×210 mm) is the standard for meetings and everyday work; it's more comfortable to write in, and the cover area is twice as large, so the logo is more visible.

If the notebook is intended as a gift for a client or employee, an A5 hardcover with an elastic band and ribbon is the more practical choice. If it's a giveaway for a seminar or school event, an A6 or A5 spiral notebook with a full-colour cover gives the best ratio between price and visibility.

Files and lead times

Please send your logo as vector graphics — .ai, .eps or .pdf, colours in CMYK or specified as Pantone. Full-colour cover printing requires 300 dpi resolution at final size and 3 mm bleed. If you don't have a vector file, we'll redraw the logo; this usually takes 15–30 minutes and costs from 15 EUR.

The standard lead time from artwork approval: 5–7 business days for spiral notebooks with litho printing, 5–7 business days for pad printing and screen printing on in-stock items, and 7–10 business days for embossing and large quantities. We always send a digital proof for approval before production.

What's the minimum order quantity for notebooks with a logo?

We also work with small quantities, but 25–50 pieces is the economically sensible threshold, since cliché and setup costs are spread across the whole order. For spiral notebooks with litho cover printing, the minimum is usually 50 pcs.

Is printing included in the price?

The prices in the table include printing in one position on the front cover. A second position, an extra colour or printing on the back cover costs extra — usually from 0.25 to 0.60 EUR per piece.

How much does a cliché cost, and can it be reused?

A screen printing or pad printing cliché costs from 25 EUR, a heat-stamping die from 35 EUR. For repeat orders with the same logo and size, the cliché charge isn't applied again, so the second order works out cheaper.

Can you print a full-colour image across the whole cover?

Yes. Desk-Mate® series spiral notebooks have the cover printed litho in full colour, and this is included in the product price. For hardcovers, we offer digital printing or a printed sticker across the whole area.

How quickly can an urgent order be fulfilled?
