Brochure Printing: A6, A5, DL Formats and Fold Types

Brochure printing in A6, A5 and DL formats with single or double folds. Paper weights, indicative prices, 3–10 business day turnaround, and artwork requirements.

Folded A5 and DL brochures, A6 flyers, laid out on a table

Atta Print produces brochures in Riga in the three most commonly used formats — A6 (105×148 mm), A5 (148×210 mm) and DL (99×210 mm) — with paper weights ranging from 130 to 300 g/m². A simple single-page A6 flyer in a print run of 500 costs approximately 0.10–0.14 EUR per piece (excl. VAT), while a folded brochure or an 8-page A5 catalogue starts from 1.20 EUR/pc at larger quantities. Standard turnaround is 3–10 business days, depending on quantity and finishing.

Which format suits which purpose

Format choice usually depends on how much information needs to fit and where the leaflet will end up — a letterbox, a counter, or a folder.

  • A6 (105×148 mm) — short announcements, discount coupons, event invitations, handouts at a café counter. The cheapest option per contact.
  • A5 (148×210 mm) — the most common flyer format. Enough room for an image, prices and contact details. Works well for letterbox drops and information stands.
  • DL (99×210 mm) — the narrow format that fits a standard envelope or document folder. Also achieved by folding an A4 sheet twice.
  • A4 (210×297 mm) — price lists, menus, technical descriptions; often folded down to DL or A5.

Fold types

Single fold (A5 → A6)148×210 mm105×148 mmEvent programme, invitation

Cross fold420×297 mm210×148 mmMaps, plans, exhibition layouts

For a roll fold, the inner panel is made 2–3 mm narrower so the brochure closes neatly. We handle this ourselves if it hasn't been accounted for in the artwork.

Paper and weights

  • 130–150 g/m² silk or matte — mass-produced A5 and A6 flyers. Inexpensive, folds well, suited to large print runs.
  • 170 g/m² — folded brochures and 8–16 page catalogues. This is the standard weight for catalogues.
  • 250–300 g/m² — cards, discount cards, invitations that aren't folded. From 250 g upward, folding requires scoring, otherwise the ink cracks along the fold.

Matte or gloss lamination can also be added. A laminated sheet withstands moisture and frequent handling — in practice this makes sense for menus and price lists, less so for one-off flyers.

Indicative prices

The prices below are indicative, excl. VAT, and quoted per piece for full-colour double-sided printing. The exact amount depends on quantity, paper, number of folds and lamination.

A4 and A5 catalogues carry an artwork preparation fee of approximately 15.00 EUR. Simple flyers and brochures have no preparation fee if we receive a correct print-ready file. Folding typically adds around 0.02–0.05 EUR per piece, depending on quantity.

For comparison: business cards 90×55 mm, 300 g, in a set of 100 cost approximately 25.00 EUR, while from three sets the price starts from 22.00 EUR. These and other small-format print items can be ordered in the business cards and flyers section.

Artwork requirements

For the print to match the artwork, the file needs to meet a few basic conditions:

  • Format: PDF (PDF/X-4 preferred), .ai or .eps. Word and PowerPoint files are suitable only as drafts.
  • Colour space: CMYK. RGB files are converted, and colours may shift, especially vivid blues and greens.
  • Bleed: 3 mm on each side; important elements at least 5 mm from the cut line.
  • Resolution: 300 dpi at actual size. Images taken from a website at 72 dpi will look blurry when printed.
  • Fonts converted to outlines or embedded in the file.
  • For folded brochures: individual pages in sequence, or a spread with fold lines marked.

If you don't have artwork, we can prepare it for you. Design work for a simple A5 flyer starts from 30 EUR, and for a multi-panel brochure from 60 EUR.

Turnaround and quantities

We also work with small print runs — 50 or 100 flyers is not a problem, although the price per piece is then considerably higher. The most cost-effective threshold for A5 flyers starts at around 500 copies.

Frequently asked questions

What's the minimum print run for brochure printing?

We also produce 50 or 100 copies, but the price per piece is then 2–3 times higher than at a run of 500 pcs. If you're planning handout materials for a longer period, it's more cost-effective to print a larger batch upfront.

Can a DL brochure be printed from an A4 sheet?

Yes, this is the standard solution: an A4 sheet with two folds gives six DL-size panels. The artwork needs to account for the inner panel being 2–3 mm narrower.

What paper weight suits flyers?

For mass-produced A5 and A6 flyers we offer 130–150 g/m², for brochures and catalogues 170 g/m², and for unfolded cards and invitations 250–300 g/m².

How long does a folded brochure take?

Usually 4–7 business days after file approval. Urgent jobs can be completed in 2–3 business days if agreed in advance.

Can you prepare the artwork if I only have text and a logo?

Yes. We need the logo in vector format (.ai, .eps or .pdf), text, and photos at 300 dpi. Design work for a flyer starts from 30 EUR.
