Construction Site Banners and Signs: What Every Site Needs

A practical guide for construction companies: site information sign, fence banners, directional signs — sizes, materials, fixings and estimated prices.

Construction site banners and signs: what every site needs

Construction site banners and signs typically fall into three groups: the site information sign (construction board) at the entrance, fence banners with company logo and contacts, and signs with safety information. We usually print the standard site information board on 3–5 mm PVC sheet, sized 1000×700 mm or 1200×800 mm, and fence banners on 510 g/m² PVC with eyelets every 50 cm, from around 9 EUR/m² excl. VAT. Our production turnaround for printing is 1–3 business days.

What you actually need on a site

For a typical apartment building or office site in Riga, the minimum set looks like this:

  • Site information sign — one at the main entrance, visible from the street.
  • Fence banners with logo — 2–6 pcs depending on the fence length; usually 3000×1000 mm or 2000×1000 mm.
  • Directional and safety signs — entrance, visitor registration, hard-hat zone, no-entry areas. Easiest on 3 mm PVC sheet in A3 or A2 format.
  • Site cabin and container marking — stickers with logo and contacts, often vinyl stickers with contour cutting.
  • Roll-up banner stand — for the site office, meetings with the client, or a handover event.

If the site is in the city centre and the fence runs along the pavement, you'll often also need pedestrian "detour" signs and a visual wrap showing the future building — we print this as one large banner or split across panels along the fence sections.

Prices are estimates — the final total depends on quantity, size, edge finishing and the number of fixings. Read more about the options in banners and roll-ups.

When to choose mesh instead of full PVC

Full 510 g/m² PVC acts like a sail. If the fence is lattice-type or the site is in an open, exposed location, wind load tears the eyelets and bends the fence sections. In such cases, we recommend a perforated mesh fabric — air passes through, and the banner lasts the whole construction cycle. A full-colour image on mesh looks slightly lighter, so we usually boost the background colour by 5–10%.

Fixings: how a banner survives two years outdoors

  • Metal eyelets every 50 cm around the whole perimeter — the standard for fence banners. Every 100 cm is enough only for small banners up to 1.5 m.
  • Plastic ties (cable ties) — the fastest solution; choose UV-resistant black ones, as white ones degrade within a season.
  • Rubber hooks (expanders) — give the banner a bit of movement and reduce tearing at the eyelets.
  • Pocket with a wooden batten or pipe — for hanging the banner on scaffolding without eyelet points.
  • PVC sheets on fences are screwed on with self-tapping screws and washers; an A2 sign needs just 4 points at the corners.

If you're not sure how many eyelets you need, send us a photo of the fence — we'll tell you where to place the fixing points.

Site information sign: content and placement

The information sign for sites with an issued construction permit is placed in a visible location at the site before work begins. In practice, it includes the site name and address, the client, the construction permit number and date, the construction initiator, the project designer and the contractor with certificate numbers, the works supervisor and contact phone number, as well as the start date and the planned completion date.

Regulations don't set an exact size, so most construction companies use 1000×700 mm — from 5–10 m away the text is readable if the main text height is at least 25 mm. We recommend creating a sign template with your company style once, then just changing the data for each site; preparation for the second and following sites is then minimal. We print on large-format equipment using UV-resistant inks.

Files, turnaround and logistics

Send logos and plans in vector format (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg), CMYK; photos and visualisations need 300 dpi at actual size, or 100–150 dpi if the banner is several metres long. We confirm the artwork by email, and only send it to print once approved.

Printing banners, signs and stickers takes 1–3 business days. Promotional products with printing — workwear, thermal mugs, pens — usually take 6–10 business days (production 4–7 days + delivery 2–3 days). Urgent site opening jobs can be arranged faster by agreement.

Frequently asked questions

How big should a construction site information sign be?

Regulations don't set an exact size. In practice, 1000×700 mm or 1200×800 mm on 3–5 mm PVC sheet is used — at this size all the mandatory data fits and the text is readable from the pavement.

How long will a fence banner last outdoors?

A 510 g/m² PVC banner with UV-resistant printing and eyelets every 50 cm usually lasts 2–3 years. The lifespan is shorter if the fixing points are too sparse and the banner flaps in the wind.

What's better for an open, windy fence location?

Perforated mesh fabric, 270–340 g/m². It lets wind through, puts less strain on the fence structure, and costs from around 12 EUR/m² excl. VAT.

Do you print a single sign for one site?

Yes, we also work with single pieces. For larger quantities — for example, 10 identical safety signs — the price per piece drops significantly.

How quickly can I get banners for a new site?

Once the artwork is approved, banners, PVC signs and stickers are ready within 1–3 business days. Urgent orders can be handled by agreement.

What format should I send the logo and site data in?

Logo in vector format (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg), CMYK. Site data can simply be sent as text by email — we'll put the artwork together and send it for approval.

Send the site address, fence length and logo to info@attaprint.lv, call us, or message us on WhatsApp +371 25776699 — we'll prepare a quote with sizes, materials and turnaround within one business day.
