Gift Card Printing for Shops: Formats, Prices, Turnaround

Gift card printing in the standard 90x55 mm format on 300 gsm card starts at approximately EUR 25 excl. VAT per 100 pieces, while orders from 300 pieces work out to approximately EUR 22 per 100 pcs. No artwork preparation fee applies to this product; files should be supplied as vector graphics (.ai, .eps, .pdf) in CMYK colour space, and the standard production time is 2–5 business days depending on quantity and finishing. We also work with small runs — if a shop needs 50 or 100 cards for a season, that's a perfectly normal order size.
What kind of gift cards do shops use
In practice, most shops, cafés and salons in Latvia choose one of three options:
- Classic card 90x55 mm on 300–350 gsm card. Fits in a wallet or envelope, the cheapest option, easy to add a number or code to.
- Larger card 100x70 mm or A6 (105x148 mm) — more room for terms, expiry date and value. Often used by restaurants and spas.
- Folded card (A6 folded in half) — design on the outside, space for a greeting and till marks on the inside.
As finishing options we offer matte or gloss lamination (protects against wear in a wallet), rounded corners and perforation if the card needs a tear-off part. If you plan to use the cards over several months, we recommend lamination — unlaminated 300 gsm card gets grubby with frequent handling.

Numbering, codes and protection
If a shop's till system registers the gift card, the card needs a unique identifier. In practice we use three solutions:
- Sequential numbering (e.g. 0001–0500) — the simplest and cheapest option if records are kept manually or in an Excel file.
- Barcode or QR code — each card has its own code, read by the till. You or your till system provider prepare the list of codes, and we import it into the artwork.
- Scratch-off layer over the code — used when the cards are placed on an open shelf.
Important: please submit the list of codes as a CSV or Excel file, in one column, in the order they need to appear. Before printing, we always send a digital proof with the first and last numbers so you can check the format.
Vouchers, discount coupons and seasonal promotions
A gift card is a single-use product with a fixed value, while a voucher is a marketing tool produced in larger quantities. We usually make vouchers as A6 or 99x210 mm flyers on 250–300 gsm card or thinner paper if they need to go into a shopping bag. If the voucher needs to be torn off a larger card or poster, we add perforation.
For seasonal promotions (Christmas, Mother's Day, shop anniversary), orders typically combine three items: cards, envelopes and shelf material. Poster printing for a shop window starts at approximately EUR 6.00 for an A2 poster, or approximately EUR 4.50/pc from 10 pcs; A1 format starts at approximately EUR 9.00, or EUR 7.00/pc from 10 pcs. Envelopes and stickers
If you're giving the card as a present, it needs an envelope. Standard C6 envelopes can be printed with your logo or sealed with a printed sticker — sticker printing on matte or gloss self-adhesive film is approximately from EUR 24.00/m², from 5 m² approximately EUR 21.00/m², from 20 m² approximately EUR 18.00/m²; contour cutting is an extra approximately EUR 8.00/m². Small round sealing stickers yield several hundred pieces from just one square metre, making this a cheap add-on. Details — in the stickers section.
How to prepare the file
- Format: vector graphics .ai, .eps or .pdf; colours in CMYK, not RGB.
- Bleed of 2 mm on each side, text and logo at least 3 mm from the cut line.
- Fonts converted to outlines or embedded in the file.
- If the card is double-sided, include both sides in one file as two pages.
- Raster elements (photos) at least 300 dpi at actual size.
If you don't have artwork, we'll prepare it based on your logo and text. For a simple gift card using an existing brand style, design preparation typically costs approximately EUR 20–40 excl. VAT depending on complexity; we confirm this during consultation.
Turnaround and logistics
The standard turnaround for gift cards with lamination and numbering is 2–5 business days from artwork approval. For quantities up to 200 pieces without finishing, it usually takes 2–3 business days. We can accommodate urgent jobs by separate agreement — workload is higher before Christmas and in the second half of February, so we recommend placing seasonal orders 3–4 weeks in advance.
