Electrical Appliance Labelling and Toy Warnings: CE Stickers

A guide for distributors: what must be on an electrical appliance labelling sticker and a toy warning sticker, which materials and sizes work, prices from EUR 17.60/m².

Electrical appliance labelling and toy warnings: CE stickers

In practice, electrical appliance labelling on a sticker means at least five things in one area: the CE mark (at least 5 mm high, proportions unchanged), the manufacturer's and EU importer's name with address, the model or batch number, technical data (voltage, power, IP rating) and the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol under EN 50419 (usually at least 7 mm high). For toys, warnings in Latvian with the word "Brīdinājums" ("Warning") are also required, plus, where applicable, the 0–3 years symbol under EN 71-6. We print such stickers from EUR 17.60/m² (standard print) to EUR 64.00/m² (silver brushed polyester film), with a turnaround of 1–3 business days.

What must be on an electrical product labelling sticker

If you are a distributor or importer and a product's labelling does not meet EU requirements or is not in Latvian, the responsibility usually falls on you. That's why a re-labelling sticker applied to the product or its packaging is often the solution.

Typical content:

  • CE mark – in vector format, minimum height 5 mm, with unchanged proportions and letter shape. Not an image pulled from Google, but an .ai/.eps/.pdf file.
  • Manufacturer and EU importer – name, registered address, country. Since Regulation (EU) 2023/988 took effect, the contact details of the EU responsible person must also be included.
  • Model, type, batch or serial number – so the product can be traced.
  • Electrical parameters – 220–240 V~, 50 Hz, W, mA, battery data, IP rating, protection class symbol.
  • WEEE crossed-out bin symbol and, if batteries are included, the battery symbol with the chemical designation.
  • Usage and safety instructions in Latvian, or a reference to the manual.

If there's a lot of text, we split it up: a data sticker on the housing and a larger sticker with composition and instructions on the packaging. Another option is a multilingual sticker with country codes, where the Latvian block is one of 4–8.

Toy labelling and warnings

For toys, the CE mark is mandatory, accompanied by warnings. The text must start with the word "Brīdinājums" ("Warning") and be legible – in practice this means the warning text cannot be smaller than the surrounding information.

Commonly used blocks:

  • "Warning! Not suitable for children under 3 years. Small parts. Choking hazard." – together with the 0–3 symbol (a circle with a crossed-out child's head, at least 10 mm in diameter).
  • Warnings about long cords, magnets, battery safety, protective glasses, or use under adult supervision.
  • Manufacturer and importer details, batch number, age indication.

For toys with electronics, both types of labelling are combined: CE, WEEE bin, battery symbol and age warning all on one sticker. Such stickers usually need an area of 60×40 mm or larger to keep the text at least 6 pt in size.

Choosing the material for your product

ApplicationMaterialWhy
Packaging box, cardboardWhite paper or PP filmCheapest option, sufficient for storage
Product housing, plasticWhite PP film + laminationResistant to friction and moisture

If the sticker is applied over existing information, choose a white opaque material, or we can add an extra white base layer so the old text doesn't show through.

Prices and sizes

We calculate by area. Below are indicative prices for 1,000 stickers (excl. VAT), including sheet layout; in practice, add a 15–25% technical buffer plus delivery.

Sizem² per 1,000 pcsStandard print €17.60/m²Laminated €24.00/m²Silver brushed €64.00/m²
40×20 mm0.8~€14~€19~€51
50×30 mm1.5~€26~€36~€96
60×40 mm2.4~€42~€58~€154
100×70 mm7.0~€123~€168~€448

Contour cutting with transfer film – EUR 24.00/m², transparent and mirror-film stickers – EUR 48.00/m². There is no setup fee for stickers. For small runs (100–300 pcs), the price per piece is higher, since the labour-intensive part is not printing but cutting and sorting – so always let us know your planned quantity and we'll give you two options.

Artwork requirements

  • Vector graphics: .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg. For raster, 300 dpi, CMYK.
  • Black text – 100% K, not four-colour black, otherwise small type will blur.
  • Minimum font size 6 pt, 7–8 pt recommended for warnings; line thickness from 0.25 mm.
  • CE mark, WEEE bin and 0–3 symbol – in vector, black or single-colour execution.
  • Allow a 2 mm trim margin and a 2 mm safety zone from the edge, so cutting tolerance doesn't clip the ends of the text.

If you don't have artwork, we'll prepare it from your text and list of symbols. Content and its legal compliance remain the customer's responsibility – we only check the technical side: legibility, symbol sizes and layout. You can see examples in our portfolio.

Sheets or rolls

Rolls make sense if you're labelling with a label applicator or handling large volumes manually – stickers come in sequence with a 3 mm gap. Sheets suit smaller runs and different variants within one order, for example, one sheet per model.

Wholesale orders often also need accompanying documents: an instruction booklet, a printout of the declaration of conformity, or a printed catalogue – an 8-page A5 catalogue from EUR 1.20/pc at a run of 250 pcs, plus EUR 15 setup. We can produce this alongside the labelling stickers.

Turnaround times

Sticker printing takes 1–3 business days after artwork approval by email. Urgent jobs – for example, if a shipment is stuck in customs and needs re-labelling – are handled by arrangement, usually next-day. Delivery in Riga by courier EUR 16.00 per trip, to regions by parcel locker or courier.

Frequently asked questions

How big does the CE mark on a sticker need to be?

The minimum height is 5 mm, with the specified proportions maintained. It can only be reduced in specific cases where the relevant product directive allows it. We only use the mark in vector format, so the outlines aren't blurred.

Does the labelling have to be in Latvian?

Safety information, warnings and usage instructions intended for consumers must be provided in Latvian in Latvia. Symbols, model numbers and technical parameters can be international. We often print multilingual stickers where the Latvian text is one of several blocks.

What is the minimum quantity for stickers?

We work with even a single sheet. For labelling stickers, the realistic minimum usually starts at 100 pcs, but the price per piece drops noticeably from 500–1,000 pcs, since printing and cutting happen in one pass.

Will the sticker withstand moisture and friction?

PP film with lamination withstands moisture, alcohol wipes and transport friction. For hotter surfaces and tools, we recommend silver brushed polyester (EUR 64.00/m²). Paper stickers are only suitable for internal packaging.

Can you prepare artwork from my text and symbols?

Yes. Send us the text in Word or Excel format, the list of required symbols, and the sticker size – we'll prepare the artwork, show you a PDF for approval, and then print it.

Can you print different models in one order?

Yes, within one sheet size we can combine several variants – for example, 10 models at 100 pcs each. The price is calculated by total area; each variant just needs to be in a separate file.

Send us your sticker size, quantity and labelling text at info@attaprint.lv or WhatsApp +371 25776699 – we'll prepare a quote with material options within one business day. All contacts and our production facility: Kandavas iela 29A, Riga.
