Cut Vinyl Letters for Shop Windows and Walls — Prices and Timelines

Cut vinyl letters for shop windows, walls and doors: from around 33 EUR/m² of vinyl used, production in 3–5 business days. We explain materials, files and price calculation.

Shop window glass with cut vinyl letters and logo

Cut vinyl letters are text or a logo cut out of self-adhesive vinyl with no background — only the shape itself stays on the glass or wall, so the shop window isn't visually blocked off. The price depends on the actual vinyl area used: matte or gloss self-adhesive vinyl costs around 25.00 EUR/m² plus contour cutting at 8.00 EUR/m², which works out to roughly from 33 EUR/m² excl. VAT, with the rate dropping from 5 m² upwards. Standard production time is 3–5 business days; urgent jobs are arranged individually.

What are cut letters and how are they different from a sticker

A regular sticker is printed and cut along the shape's contour, keeping the background area intact. With cut letters, the background is cut away and removed, so only the letter or logo is visible on the glass in silhouette form. Visually it looks neater and doesn't create a glossy "patch" on the window.

In practice, this is used for:

  • shop windows — opening hours, phone number, website, logo;
  • offices — company name on doors, room numbers, wall text;
  • cafés and restaurants — menu excerpts, a slogan on the wall;
  • sports clubs and schools — logos on glass partitions;
  • events — names and numbering on glass, easily removable afterwards.

If a logo is multicoloured with gradients or photographs, cut vinyl isn't suitable — in that case we use printed self-adhesive vinyl with contour cutting instead. You'll find both options under sticker printing.

Materials: matte or gloss vinyl

We work with two types of self-adhesive vinyl. Matte vinyl doesn't shine, doesn't reflect light from shop lighting, and on a wall looks almost as if it were painted on — offices and interiors tend to choose this option more often. Gloss vinyl is shinier and more contrasty, and works better on dark glass and outdoors.

Letters can be applied either from the outside or the inside. If applying from inside the room, the artwork needs to be mirrored — we take care of that, you just need to tell us which side it's going on. Letters applied from the inside are protected from weather and scratches, but the glass reduces contrast.

Pricing

Pricing is based on the vinyl area taken up by the layout of letters or a logo on the roll. Prices are indicative, excl. VAT, with no setup fee.

For very small jobs we apply a minimum order amount, since preparation, cutting and weeding the vinyl take time regardless of size. The exact price always depends on the area, the type of vinyl, and the complexity of the contours — an intricate logo with fine elements requires more manual work than simple text.

File requirements

Cut letters require vector artwork: .ai, .eps or .pdf with outlines, text converted to curves. A JPG or PNG file only works as a reference — the outlines need to be redrawn from scratch, which is a separate piece of work.

Technical limits worth keeping in mind at the artwork stage:

  • minimum letter height for practical cutting — about 15–20 mm;
  • the thinnest line or element — at least 3–5 mm; thinner elements tear during application;
  • vinyl colour is solid, so gradients and shadows aren't possible;
  • multicoloured logos are cut in separate layers and assembled together — this increases production time.

If you're not sure whether your file is suitable, send it to info@attaprint.lv — we'll check it and let you know what needs fixing.

Timelines and installation

Standard production time is 3–5 business days from artwork approval; for larger multicoloured sets, allow for 5 business days, and we'll confirm the exact timeline when accepting the order. Urgent jobs are taken on by agreement, depending on current workload.

Letters are delivered with application tape, meaning a ready-made layout — you don't need to position each letter separately. We include a short application guide: the surface should be cleaned with an alcohol-based cleaner, work should be done at 10–25 °C, and the wet application method is recommended for larger areas. On-site installation in Riga is arranged separately — just give us the address and glass dimensions, and we'll include it in the quote.

When a different solution works better

If you need to fully cover a shop window or use photographs, full-colour printing on self-adhesive vinyl or banner material is more practical. If your logo changes seasonally, printed stickers work out cheaper. See the full range of printing services and order forms at Atta Print's shop.

Frequently asked questions

How much do cut vinyl letters cost?

Roughly from 33 EUR/m² excl. VAT (vinyl from 25.00 EUR/m² + contour cutting at 8.00 EUR/m²). From 5 m², the combined rate is around 30 EUR/m²; from 20 m², around 27 EUR/m². For small jobs, such as opening hours on a door, we apply a minimum order amount.

How long does vinyl last on glass?

On glass, if applied from the inside, it lasts several years. Outdoors, exposed to direct sun and winter conditions, the realistic lifespan is 2–4 years depending on colour and location. When removing the vinyl, any adhesive residue is cleaned off with technical alcohol.

Can the letters be removed without damaging the wall?

From a smooth, painted wall, the vinyl can be removed, but if the paint is old, matte, or dusty, the paint layer may come off along with the vinyl. On glass, tiles and similarly smooth surfaces, the risk is minimal.

What if my logo is only available as a JPG?

Send it to us and we'll redraw the outlines in vector format. This is a separate preparation task, and the amount of work depends on the file — for simple text it's a matter of minutes, for a complex emblem it takes longer.

Do you make single logos, or only large orders?

We also work with single pieces. For one small logo, the minimum order amount applies, but that doesn't mean we'll turn the order down.
