Button Badge Making in Riga — Pin or Magnet
Button badges made from 1 piece: round badges 25–75 mm with a pin, magnet or clip. Guide price from EUR 0.80/pc, turnaround 3–7 business days.

We make button badges at Atta Print (Kandavas iela 29A, Riga) from as little as 1 piece — the most commonly ordered sizes are 25, 37, 44 and 56 mm in diameter, and you can choose the fastening between a pin, magnet, clip or key ring attachment. The guide price starts at around EUR 1.60/pc for small batches and drops to around EUR 0.80/pc from 250 pieces (excl. VAT). The standard turnaround is 5–10 business days from artwork approval; rush jobs are possible by arrangement.
How a button badge is made
A classic button badge consists of three parts: a metal base, a printed paper insert and a transparent protective film (mylar), which is pressed on top. This construction means the surface is glossy, scuff-resistant and doesn't fade from moisture — the badge holds up to both a rainy festival and everyday wear on a jacket.
The fastening is built into the back. This determines both the use case and the price:
- Pin (safety-pin type) — the standard solution for events, schools, sports clubs and promotions. The cheapest option.
- Magnet — doesn't damage fabric, making it suitable for waiters, sales staff and conference personnel who wear the badge on a shirt or blazer every day.
- Clip or crocodile clip — convenient if the badge is often moved from one garment to another.
- Key ring — the same printing principle, just with a metal ring.
- Badge with a mirror on the back — popular as a giveaway at events and in shop promotions.

Additional costs to factor in:
- Magnet fastening: approx. +EUR 0.35–0.60/pc depending on size.
- Clip or key ring: approx. +EUR 0.20–0.40/pc.
- Artwork preparation from your materials: from around EUR 15, if the file isn't print-ready.
- Several different designs in one order: possible at no extra charge as long as the total quantity is maintained — for example, 100 badges with 5 different names.
If you order badges together with other materials — stickers, flyers or posters — we can prepare the whole event package in one go and with a single delivery.
File requirements
For the badge printing to look sharp, please keep a few things in mind:
- Vector graphics (.ai, .eps, .pdf) or raster at least 300 dpi at actual size.
- Colour space CMYK; if a corporate colour matters, specify the Pantone code and we'll convert it.
- A bleed of 4–5 mm all round, since the printed circle is partly folded over onto the sides of the badge.
- Keep important text and logos at least 4 mm from the edge of the visible circle — otherwise part of it will end up on the edge.
If you don't have a file, or only have a logo in JPG format, send us what you have — project manager Madara will tell you whether it can be used, and how much artwork preparation would cost.
Turnaround and quantities
A standard badge batch of 50–500 pcs is ready in 5–10 business days after approval of the digital artwork. For larger volumes (from 1,000 pcs) or non-standard fastenings, allow 10–14 business days. Small orders — 10–30 pcs — are usually ready faster, provided the relevant size is in stock and the file is ready.
Before a large batch, we can make a single sample to check the colour and text size. The sample is charged as a separate piece and is deducted from the total order.
What's often ordered alongside button badges
Sports clubs order badges together with T-shirt printing and banners for the competition area. Cafés and restaurants — staff badges with a magnet plus menu cards. Schools and municipalities — badges for graduates or event participants together with posters and diplomas. If you're putting together a gift set, a badge can sit alongside other promotional products with a logo — a notebook, pen or tote bag.
FAQ
Do you make button badges in batches of 10?
Yes, we also work with very small batches, even 1 piece. The unit price for a small quantity is higher, because the setup time is the same as for a large batch, but there are no technical limitations.
What's the difference between a pin and a magnet?
A pin pierces the fabric and is cheaper, so it's used for one-off events and bulk batches. A magnet holds through the fabric without damaging it, and is more suitable for staff badges used every day. The magnet option costs around EUR 0.35–0.60/pc more.
Can an order include different designs?
Yes. For example, 60 badges with six different employee names or team numbers. The price is calculated based on the total quantity, as long as the size and fastening are the same.
How quickly can I get the badges?
The standard turnaround is 3–7 business days from artwork approval. In urgent cases, part of the work can be completed in 2–3 days by separate arrangement.
Does the badge hold up to rain and scuffing?
The print sits under a transparent film pressed onto the metal base, so the badge doesn't fade from moisture or handling. Prolonged direct sunlight can slightly change the colours over time.
What files are required for printing button badges?
Vector graphics (.ai, .eps, .pdf) or raster at least 300 dpi at actual size, in CMYK colour space, with a 4–5 mm bleed. Keep important text at least 4 mm from the edge of the visible circle.
