Embroidered Blankets: Materials, Sizes and Packaging

A practical guide to blankets and throws with embroidery: fleece, sherpa, GRS recycled materials, sizes from 120x150 cm to 220x250 cm, prices from €4.91.

Huggy fleece blanket with carry pouch, 150x120 cm

Embroidered blankets are one of the most practical warm gifts with a logo: embroidery up to 90×90 mm holds up well on fleece, sherpa and recycled polyester without cracking, and withstands washing at 30°C, with prices starting from €4.91/pc for a fleece blanket 150×120 cm with a carry pouch. Standard sizes in our catalogue range from 120×150 cm (single-person) to 220×250 cm (picnic or double-bed format), and most models already come with an elastic band or a carry pouch. Production time with embroidery is usually 6–10 business days.

Available materials

The blanket's material determines both the feel and how well the embroidery will hold.

  • Fleece (polar fleece, 180–280 g/m²) – the lightest and most affordable option. Takes embroidery well, but a stabiliser under the stitching is recommended to prevent the fabric from puckering. Example: the Huggy fleece blanket with carry pouch.
  • Coral fleece – longer, softer pile for a more pleasant feel. Embroidery should be planned larger and simpler, as the pile "eats up" fine details.
  • Sherpa fleece – thick, imitates sheep's wool, often double-layered (fleece + sherpa). Here embroidery is placed on the thinner side or on a separate label.
  • GRS recycled polyester – certified recycled material requested by companies with sustainability policies. For these models, embroidery is often the only printing technique available in the catalogue.

Embroidery or heat transfer

Embroidery is the most durable solution and looks "more premium", but it cannot reproduce gradients or very fine text (under 4 mm letter height). DTF transfer allows full-colour logos, but it adheres less well on long pile. In practice: both techniques work on fleece, while on coral fleece and sherpa we recommend embroidery or an embroidered label.

The embroidery placement is most commonly one corner 8–12 cm from the edge, or the front of the pouch. On large blankets, a 90×90 mm logo in the corner looks proportionate; if you need a logo visible from a distance, a DTF transfer in the centre works better.

How much does embroidery cost

The cost of embroidery is determined by the stitch count, not the physical size of the logo. A simple single-word logo of 60×20 mm is around 3,000–5,000 stitches, while a complex crest-style logo of 90×90 mm can be 15,000 stitches or more.

ItemIndicative (excl. VAT)
Embroidery digitising (one-time)from €20
Embroidery up to 5,000 stitches, 50 pcsapprox. €1.80–2.50/pc
Embroidery 10,000–15,000 stitches, 50 pcsapprox. €3.00–4.50/pc
Embroidered edge labelapprox. €1.50–2.50/pc

At 100 pieces and above, the price per piece drops; the digitising fee stays fixed, so it adds the most to the unit cost for small runs. For more on techniques, see our apparel printing section.

Packaging and gift sets

Most fleece blankets already come with an elastic band or a fabric carry pouch, so separate packaging is often not needed. If the blanket is a gift for a client or an employee, one of three options is usually added:

More warm-season options are available in the promotional products section and in the catalogue.

Files and timelines

Embroidery requires a vector logo file (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg). From this we prepare the embroidery digitising file and match thread shades to a colour chart – there will always be a slight difference from CMYK, as thread is not ink. Before production, we send an artwork proof or a 3D view with the logo on the chosen blanket colour, which is approved by email.

Timelines: production with embroidery takes 4–7 business days depending on quantity, plus 2–3 days for delivery, totalling 6–10 business days in most cases. In season (November–December), blanket colours sell out quickly, so larger quantities are worth reserving 3–4 weeks in advance. Urgent orders are possible by arrangement.

Frequently asked questions

How large can the embroidery on a blanket be?

The standard area is up to 90×90 mm. A larger embroidery is technically possible, but it increases the cost and may pull the fabric on pile materials; in that case a DTF transfer is a better choice.

Can an embroidered blanket be washed?

Yes, wash at 30°C, no tumble drying and no ironing directly over the embroidery. Fleece and sherpa keep their shape under this routine, and the thread doesn't lose colour.

What is the minimum order quantity?

We also work with a single piece. In practice, an economically sensible starting point for embroidery is 10–20 pcs, as the digitising fee of €20+ is spread across the whole run.

Can embroidery be done on the pouch instead of the blanket?

Yes. On Huggy models, the pouch is flatter and denser than the fleece, so the logo looks sharper on it. A common choice is embroidery on the pouch combined with a small embroidered label in the corner of the blanket.

Which material is the most cost-effective for large quantities?

Plain fleece. For example, the Huggy 150×120 cm at 100 pcs starts from €4.85/pc without printing, which is 3–4 times cheaper than GRS sherpa models.

Can blankets be ordered in a company's corporate colour?

Ready-made colours are available in store – 12 shades for the Huggy fleece blanket, 4 shades for Bay and Springwood. Custom fabric dyeing is only possible for large quantities and with a longer lead time.
