Printed Thermal Mugs for the Office: Capacities and Lid Types
A practical guide to choosing printed thermal mugs for your team: 250 ml or 350 ml, lid types, printing methods and prices from EUR 4.52/pc.

Printed thermal mugs for the office are most often ordered in two capacities – 250 ml (one shot of espresso or flat white) and 350 ml (a standard coffee to go). Prices in our catalogue start from around EUR 4.52/pc at 100 pcs and from EUR 5.10/pc at 50 pcs (excl. VAT), depending on the model and printing method. The key practical difference isn't colour but the lid: a leak-proof lid survives in a bag, while a simple snap-on lid is meant for carrying by hand from the coffee machine to your desk.
250 ml or 350 ml: how to decide
A 250 ml mug is compact, fits in a car cup holder and under most coffee machine spouts without removing the lid. It's a logical choice if your team drinks espresso or cappuccino, or if the mug is used mainly in the office.

350 ml is the more universal capacity – enough for a full cup of coffee or tea, and it's the size people actually take with them. If you're ordering one model for the whole team and don't know everyone's preference, 350 ml is the safer option.
| Capacity | Best for | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|
| 250 ml | Espresso, office use, car | Compact, lighter, cheaper | Less coffee, cools down faster |
| 350 ml | Everyday coffee, on the go, meetings | Universal size, good print area | Doesn't fit narrower cup holders |
Lid types and what they mean in practice
The catalogue descriptions include several terms, and they are not interchangeable:
- Leak-proof lid – the tightest option; the mug can go in a bag or backpack. This is used, for example, on the Americano® Espresso 250 ml models.
- Spill-resistant lid – the closable opening protects against splashes and spills if the mug tips over on a desk, but it's not meant for lying sideways in a bag for long.
- Simple snap-on lid with drinking opening – the lightest and cheapest solution for carrying by hand, as used on the Americano® Eco 350 ml with lid.
- Mug with grip – a silicone or textured sleeve around the middle; more comfortable to hold and you feel less heat, though the print area becomes slightly narrower.
Tip for teams: if the mugs are for employees who move between locations or drive, choose a leak-proof or spill-resistant lid. If the mugs will stay on the desk or at events, a standard lid is enough, and you'll save roughly EUR 0.50–0.80 per piece.
Printing methods: 360° digital printing, screen printing and in-mould
360° digital printing lets you print all the way around the mug, with photos, gradients and unlimited colours. Suitable when your logo is multicoloured or you want a full graphic design.

Screen printing on round surfaces is cost-effective for a simple 1–2 colour logo in larger quantities. Colours are dense and hold up well, but gradients aren't possible.
In-mould printing (Brite-Americano® range) means the image is set beneath the surface layer – it doesn't wear off with washing. Here the choice is already made at the product level: these models don't offer other printing methods.
All these mugs are plastic, so plan the print with washing in mind – it's better to hand-wash the lid and body rather than put them through a high-temperature dishwasher cycle.

How to order and which files you need
Pick the items in the catalogue and add them to your request, or simply tell us how many pieces and what capacity you need. Within one business day we'll send an online quote and a PDF with product photos, prices, print location, setup fee and lead time for each item; on request, we can also prepare a 3D preview with your logo so you can see how the print looks on the mug.
Please send your logo as vector artwork (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) in CMYK colours; for raster images, 300 dpi. The artwork must be approved by email, after which production begins: promotional products with printing usually take 6–10 business days (production 4–7 business days depending on quantity, plus 2–3 days for delivery). We can look into urgent jobs separately.
If you're planning thermal mugs as part of a gift set, they're often paired with a notebook, a pen or a tote bag – you'll find all of these in the promotional products with logo section.
FAQ
How long does a thermal mug keep coffee hot?
These are plastic travel mugs with a lid, not double-wall steel thermoses – coffee stays pleasantly warm for roughly 30–60 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature and how often you open the lid. If you need heat retention for several hours, look at steel vacuum mugs instead.
What's the minimum order quantity?
Catalogue prices start at 50 pieces, as that's the most cost-effective printing threshold. We can also quote smaller quantities individually, though the price per piece will be higher; we print sublimation mugs and thermal mugs from as little as 1 piece.
Can the print go in the dishwasher?
We recommend hand-washing digital and screen-printed designs – they last longer that way. In-mould printing (Brite-Americano® models) is more resistant to washing, as the image is embedded in the surface layer.
Can each employee get their own name printed?
Yes, personalisation is possible with 360° digital printing, as each piece is printed individually. You'll need to send an exact list of names, and the setup fee is calculated based on the number of individual artworks.
Can the mugs be ordered in different colours within one order?
Yes, and it's quite common – for example, the Americano® Eco 350 ml is available in 34 colours. Note that each colour may have its own minimum quantity, and light-coloured prints on dark bodies should be checked separately.
How quickly will I get a price?
We send a quote with prices, print location and lead time within one business day of receiving your request.
