Cooler bags with logo: sizes, insulation and uses

Cooler bags with logo printing are most commonly ordered in three capacity ranges: 5–8 l for one person (lunch, a conference gift), 10–20 l for a family picnic, and 25–35 l backpacks or delivery bags for couriers. As a rough guide, prices with single-colour printing start from 6–8 EUR/pc for small bags at a quantity of 50, and 18–30 EUR/pc for large backpacks (excl. VAT), but the exact price depends on quantity, lining thickness and printing method. Production with printing usually takes 6–10 business days.

How to choose the capacity

Capacity is the first decision to make, since it determines both the price and the printable area. In practice, a simple reference helps: 6 litres is roughly 6 cans with ice, while 20 litres is a basket for two people for a whole day.

For delivery bags, we also look at shape: pizza bags are flat with a rigid base, while ready-meal delivery bags are tall, with reinforced sides so the boxes don't slide around.

Insulation: what determines how long the temperature holds

The inside of a cooler bag is usually a PEVA or aluminium-foil-laminate lining, with a foam layer between the outer fabric and the lining. The insulation thickness is the key parameter here, not the density of the outer fabric.

• 3–5 mm foam — the most affordable option, keeps temperature for 2–3 hours. Good for conferences, short events, lunch bags.
• 6–8 mm foam — the most practical middle ground for picnic bags; with an ice pack, coldness is retained for 5–7 hours.
• 10 mm and above, with heat-sealed seams — for delivery and professional use, hot food stays above 60°C for roughly 60–90 minutes.

Also pay attention to the zip and the seam type: glued or high-frequency welded seams don't let condensation leak out and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. If the bag is intended for food delivery, ask for food-safe lining confirmation — we state this in the quote for the specific product.

Printing methods and printable areas

The outer material of cooler bags is usually 600D polyester or non-woven fabric, so the same principles apply as with apparel printing:

• Screen printing — 1–3 colours, most cost-effective from 50 pcs, area usually up to 200×150 mm on the side or front.
• DTF transfer — full-colour logos and photographs, no minimum quantity, also suitable for orders of 10–20 pieces.
• Embroidery — on the front pocket or flap, up to 90×90 mm; looks solid but not suitable for fine gradients.

The logo or pocket seams limit the printable area, so we always check the artwork against the actual bag layout and send it for approval. Please send files in vector format (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg), CMYK; raster images need at least 300 dpi.

• Picnics and summer events — 15–20 l with a shoulder strap and outer pocket; full-colour DTF works well here, since the artwork often includes event graphics.
• Sports clubs — a 25–30 l thermal backpack together with a bottle, for example the Thor 650 ml; the team name embroidered on the front pocket.
• Staff gifts — a 6–8 l lunch bag plus a thermal mug together in a gift box; the total set price usually falls within 12–18 EUR at a quantity of 100 sets.
