Mug printing area: one side, both sides, or 360°

How big an image fits on a mug: a standard 330 ml ceramic mug has about 80×90 mm for one side, and around 200×95 mm for a 360° wrap. Sizes, files and prices.

For a standard 330 ml ceramic mug, the printing area on one side is roughly 80×90 mm. For two-sided printing, you get two such areas on opposite sides of the mug, while a 360° (wrap-around) print covers roughly 200×95 mm, since you need to leave a 12–15 mm free strip on each side of the handle. Thermal mugs and steel bottles have a larger area: about 230×150 mm for a 500 ml bottle, and about 250×180 mm for a 750 ml bottle. We send you the exact artwork template for each model before you approve the design.

Three layout options and when to choose each

One side

The cheapest and most commonly used option. Suitable for a logo, slogan or a single image. If the mug will be used in an office or café, where it's seen from one side, single-sided printing is usually enough. For single-sided printing, let us know if the image should be to the right or left of the handle — if not specified, we place it in the standard position opposite the handle.

Both sides

Two separate print areas: for example, a logo on one side and contact details, a QR code or an event name on the other. The mug stays recognisable no matter which hand you hold it in. With sublimation, both sides are printed in a single pressing cycle, so the price increase is minimal or none at all.

360° (wrap-around) printing

The image covers the entire surface of the mug, except for the strips near the handle. This works well for background colours, patterns, photos and designs without a clear "front side". Important: a fully seamless 360° image isn't possible — there's always a seam and an unprinted strip near the handle. We design the layout so the break falls in a logical spot, not, for example, in the middle of a line of text.

Sizes are approximate and depend on the specific model's diameter, shape and cap. For cone-shaped or contoured bottles, the actual print area is 10–20 mm smaller, since the print can't cross curves or the thread.

How to prepare your file

  • Format: vector graphics — .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg. For photos and raster images, 300 dpi at actual size.
  • Safety margins: 10 mm from the top edge of the mug, 12–15 mm from the bottom, and 12–15 mm from each side of the handle. No text or logo elements should appear in these zones.
  • Background colour: for 360° printing, add a 3 mm bleed to the background so no white stripe is left after pressing.
  • Colours: with sublimation, colours are formed on a white or light-coated surface, so white isn't actually printed — it's the colour of the product itself. Specify your brand colours in Pantone or CMYK values; sublimation may cause a slight shift, especially with bright orange and neon shades.
  • Minimum text size: 6 pt; fine lines under 0.25 pt can blur on a curved surface.

Before production, we send you the artwork with actual dimensions, and on request also a 3D view with your logo. Production starts only after email approval.

Price, quantities and lead times

Sublimation printing is a single-process technology: a full-colour image costs the same as a one-colour one, and the number of colours doesn't affect the price. Single-sided and double-sided printing usually cost the same; 360° printing can be roughly EUR 0.30–0.80/pc more expensive, since it requires a larger template and more careful positioning. Prices are shown excluding VAT and are indicative — the exact amount depends on the quantity, model and print layout.

We work from 1 piece — great for a gift or a sample before a larger order. From 50–100 pcs, the price per piece is already lower. Lead time for promotional products with printing is usually 6–10 business days (production 4–7 business days depending on quantity, plus 2–3 days delivery); rush jobs by arrangement. If you also need extra materials for the mugs — packaging stickers, cards or posters — we print those in-house at our own facility on Kandavas iela 29A within 1–3 business days.

FAQ

How big an image fits on a standard 330 ml mug?

About 80×90 mm on one side, and about 200×95 mm for a 360° print. The exact template depends on the model, so we send the specific dimensions before you approve the artwork.

Is a fully seamless 360° print possible?

No. There's always a 12–15 mm unprinted strip on each side of the handle, since the sublimation template can't wrap around the handle. We design the layout so the break doesn't interfere with the logo or text.

Does double-sided printing cost double?

No. With sublimation, both sides are printed in a single pressing cycle, so the price is usually the same as single-sided printing, or with only a small surcharge.

Can a printed mug be washed in a dishwasher?

Ceramic mugs with sublimation printing can withstand a dishwasher, but the colour lasts longer in the long run if washed by hand. For steel thermal bottles and thermal mugs, we recommend hand washing only.

What file should I send?

Vector graphics (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) or a raster image at 300 dpi at actual size. If you only have a logo from your website, send what you have — we'll assess whether the quality is sufficient and redraw it if needed.

Can I order a single mug?

Yes, we work from 1 piece. For larger quantities, the price per piece drops.
