Farm Labels, T-shirts and Caps: an Industry Guide
How a farm business can order labels for jars and bottles, T-shirts for the team, and caps with a logo: materials, quantities, guide prices and turnaround times.

We usually produce farm labels on matte or glossy self-adhesive vinyl with contour cutting, and we accept orders starting from a single print run — typically from 100 pieces per product, with a turnaround of 2–5 business days. A guide price for a small round label (Ø 50 mm) is roughly EUR 0.18–0.30/pc at 250 pieces, and from EUR 0.07/pc at 2000 pieces (excl. VAT). Besides labels, farms usually also need 5–20 T-shirts for the team and caps with an embroidered logo for markets and fairs — during the harvest season in August and September, these are the two most common orders.
How a farm label differs from a regular sticker
A home-made product label works in harsher conditions than an office sticker. A honey jar travels through a cold storeroom, jam ends up in the fridge where condensation forms, and juice or cheese packaging gets wiped with a damp cloth. That's why, for food products, we almost always recommend self-adhesive vinyl rather than a paper sticker: vinyl doesn't absorb moisture, doesn't wrinkle, and won't peel off glass or plastic.
Paper labels are cheaper and look good on dry packaging — flour bags, grain and bean pouches, loose teas, bags of hay pellets. If the product is kept in a freezer or washed frequently, paper is not suitable.
Matte or glossy
Matte vinyl gives a calmer, more artisanal look and pairs well with dark glass, wooden lids and fabric packaging. Glossy vinyl makes colours pop — red berries, yellow honey, green herbs — and is more scratch-resistant. Both are available with contour cutting, so a label can be round, oval, hexagonal, or any custom shape. More on materials and shapes: sticker printing.
What needs to be on the label
Before preparing the artwork, it's worth gathering all the text, since later corrections mean a reprint. A food product label usually needs to include:
- product name and type;
- ingredients, with allergens highlighted;
- net weight or volume;
- minimum shelf life or best-before date;
- manufacturer's name, address and contacts;
- batch number and storage conditions.
We recommend not printing the date and batch number directly — leave a blank field instead, or plan a separate small sticker that's stamped or printed on-site. That way one batch of labels can be used throughout the season.
Sizes and quantities that work best for farms
| Product | Typical label size | Quantity | Guide price per pc |
|---|---|---|---|
| Honey jar 0.5 kg | Ø 50–60 mm | 250 | EUR 0.18–0.30 |
| Jam 200–400 ml | 50 × 70 mm | 500 | EUR 0.12–0.20 |
| Juice, cider 0.75 l | 80 × 100 mm | 1000 | EUR 0.09–0.14 |
| Cheese, meat packaging | 40 × 60 mm | 2000 | from EUR 0.07 |
| Lid seal / guarantee sticker | Ø 25–30 mm | 1000 | from EUR 0.05 |
Prices are a guide only, excl. VAT, and depend on the material, shape complexity and total volume. If several products with the same label size are combined in one print run, the price per piece drops — for example, four different jam flavours at 250 pcs each costs less than four separate orders.
Sheets or a roll
If you apply labels by hand, sheets are more convenient. If you use a semi-automatic labelling machine, you'll need to know the roll core diameter, label pitch and winding direction — this information is needed before printing, since a roll can't be rewound afterwards.
T-shirts, caps and workwear
At markets and fairs, matching T-shirts work as a signal that the person at the stand is the farmer, not a customer. For small quantities (5–30 pcs), we offer DTF printing — it allows full-colour logos and fine detail with no extra charge per colour. From around 50 pieces, screen printing becomes more cost-effective: the price per piece is lower, but each colour requires a separate screen.
For workwear — fleece jackets, cotton sweatshirts, aprons — we most often recommend embroidery. It withstands frequent washing at 60°C and doesn't wear off while working with machinery. Embroidery setup requires a one-off digitisation of the artwork, which can then be used for all future orders. See our range in the T-shirts and caps sections.
As a guide: a cotton T-shirt with a single-size print from around EUR 12/pc at 10 pieces, a cap with an embroidered logo from around EUR 9–13/pc at 25 pieces. The exact price depends on the model, size and number of print locations.
Tags, gift sets and a market stand
For artisanal products, a tag tied on with a string works well — a cardboard card with your farm's story, a recipe suggestion, or a QR code linking to your website. We make these on 300–350 gsm card with a hole punched; the smallest practical run is 100 pcs.
From our catalogue, farms also find the Traveler luggage tag (2 colours) useful, which can be printed using digital printing, pad printing, screen printing, laser engraving, or a full-colour doming sticker. It works both as a gift for regular customers and co-op partners, and for a very practical purpose — labelling inventory, crates and transport bags.
For a stand, one 2 × 1 m PVC banner, a roll-up banner stand with your price list, and a few A3 posters with product descriptions are usually enough. All of this is available in one place: large-format printing.
Files and turnaround times
We accept artwork in vector format — .ai, .eps or .pdf, colours in CMYK, fonts converted to outlines. Labels need a 2–3 mm bleed and a safe zone for text, so the address or ingredients list isn't cut off during trimming. If you don't have artwork ready, our project manager Madara will help you figure out what's still needed.
| Product | Typical turnaround |
|---|---|
| Labels and stickers | 2–5 business days |
| Business cards, tags, flyers | 3–5 business days |
| T-shirts with DTF or screen printing | 5–10 business days |
| Caps and apparel with embroidery | 5–10 business days |
| Banners, roll-ups, posters | 2–5 business days |
Turnaround times are counted from the moment the artwork is approved. Urgent jobs before a specific market or event are completed by separate arrangement.
Frequently asked questions
Will the labels stay on the jar in the fridge and freezer?
Self-adhesive vinyl labels withstand moisture and condensation at fridge temperature. For freezer use, let us know at the time of ordering, as it requires an adhesive that sticks to a cold surface — regular adhesive holds less well on frozen packaging.
How small a batch can I order?
We can produce even a single piece, but for labels the economically sensible minimum run is 100–250 pcs, since most of the cost is in setup and cutting. For T-shirts and caps, the smallest practical quantity is 5–10 pcs.
Can I leave space on the label for a date and batch number?
Yes, and this is the recommended approach. We leave a blank field in the artwork that you fill in with a stamp or thermal printer, so one batch of labels can be used throughout the whole season.
What's more cost-effective for T-shirts — DTF or screen printing?
Up to 30–50 T-shirts, DTF is more cost-effective, since no screen printing plates are needed and a full-colour logo doesn't cost extra. From 50 pieces, and for a simpler 1–2 colour logo, screen printing becomes cheaper.
How do I order if I don't have a ready-made design?
Send us your logo, product text, and the dimensions of the jar or bottle. We'll prepare the artwork, send it to you for approval as a PDF, and only send it to print once you've said "yes".
Email info@attaprint.lv, call, or message us on WhatsApp at +371 25776699 — we'll prepare a quote with prices and turnaround times within one business day. Let us know the number of products, packaging sizes and apparel quantity, and we'll give you a specific quote right away.
