Museum Merchandise with Logo, Posters and Lanyards: Industry Guide

Branded museum merchandise, posters and staff lanyards are the three groups of materials that cultural institutions in Riga order most often — and they come with quite different turnaround times: poster printing from A4 to A0 takes 1–3 business days, while branded merchandise usually takes 6–10 business days (production 4–7 days + delivery 2–3 days). As a guideline, an A2 poster on 200 g paper starts from EUR 3/pc at a run of 50 pcs, a printed lanyard from around EUR 1.20/pc at 100 pcs, and a simple item such as a pen with a logo from EUR 0.35/pc. All prices are excl. VAT and depend on the print run and printing method.

Posters and exhibition materials

Theatre performances and museum exhibitions usually need two things at once: a small run of A3/A2 posters for display around the city, and a few large-format pieces at the entrance. Our poster printing is digital, so even 10–30 pcs is cost-effective — there's no plate set-up cost to pay for.

Practical tips:

• For outdoor display under glass or in showcases, 200–250 g/m² matte-coated paper works well — it reflects less light.
• For exhibition text panels and wall boards, we use PVC or foam board, which can be mounted without a frame.
• Exhibition titles, QR codes for audio guides and room numbering work well as self-adhesive stickers with contour cutting — including on transparent film for glass.
• For event backdrops and press walls — PVC banners or roll-up stands, which can be reused across several seasons if you leave the year off the design.

Lanyards and staff recognisability

For museum attendants, cashiers, guides and event volunteers, it's important that visitors can immediately see who to approach. The standard solution is a 15–20 mm wide lanyard with the institution's name and a carabiner for a badge, combined with a polo shirt or hoodie with embroidery on the chest.

Printing sizes we work with on clothing: left chest 110×90 mm, front and back up to 280×210 mm, sleeve 80×60 mm, embroidery up to 90×90 mm. Guides and technical staff more often choose embroidery (more durable in washing), while event teams tend to go for DTF transfer, as it's cost-effective even for small quantities. Merchandise for the museum shop and events

It's worth splitting your merchandise range into three price groups: small gifts under EUR 1 (pens, sticky notes, keyrings), a mid-range group at EUR 2–6 (umbrellas, bags, thermal mugs), and gift sets from EUR 10 for sponsors and partners. Most items in our catalogue are available from as little as 1 piece, and the unit price drops at 100 pcs.

Full-colour digital printing works well for exhibition themes — for example, 360° printing on a thermal mug lets you apply a reproduction or pattern without any limit on the number of colours. Cultural institutions also often need materials for children's programmes: anti-stress balls, stickers for worksheets, and small drawstring bags for museum workshops.

Planning your budget and procurement

Cultural institutions usually work to a seasonal plan, so it's more cost-effective to combine orders: a single poster run for the whole season (changing only the dates on stickers) and a single batch of merchandise for the shop covering 6–12 months. The unit price drops more significantly at 250 and 500 pcs than at 100 pcs, so a larger batch pays off if you have the storage space.

For artwork preparation you'll need vector graphics (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) in CMYK, and 300 dpi for raster images. If your logo isn't available in vector format, we can help redraw it. We send quotes within one business day — online and as a PDF with product photos, prices, print location, set-up fee and turnaround time for each item; on request we add a 3D preview with your logo. How quickly can we receive branded museum merchandise?

Printed promotional products usually take 6–10 business days: production 4–7 business days depending on quantity and printing method, plus delivery of 2–3 days. We can arrange urgent orders by separate agreement.

Can posters be ordered in a small run, for example 20 pieces?

Yes. Digital printing doesn't require plate set-up, so 10–30 pcs of A2 or A1 posters is a normal run. Turnaround is 1–3 business days.

What's the minimum batch for lanyards and socks with a logo?

Printed lanyards practically start from 100 pcs, and socks with a woven logo from 100 pairs. Most other merchandise is available from 1 piece.

What should we do if we don't have our logo in vector format?

Send us whatever you have — a good-quality image is usually enough for us to redraw the logo in vector. For printing we use .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg files in CMYK colours, and 300 dpi for raster images.

Is it possible to print a full-colour exhibition reproduction on merchandise?

Yes, using digital printing or sublimation. Thermal mugs are available with 360° full-colour printing, and for textiles we use DTF transfer, which has no limit on the number of colours.

Will we see the artwork before production?

Always. The artwork is sent for approval by email, and on request together with a 3D preview showing your logo on the specific product.
