Farm Labels, Banners and Bags: A Guide for Farm Businesses

How a farm business can order product labels, market banners and tote bags: materials, print runs, indicative prices and turnaround times.

Farm labels, banners and bags: a guide for farm businesses

We most often print farm product labels on white PP film (moisture- and fridge-resistant) or paper with matte lamination — in sheets from just 1 piece, or in rolls for automatic applicators, with contour cutting to any shape. Our own print jobs, including labels, posters and business cards, are produced in 1–3 business days, while promotional products with printing usually take 6–10 business days. During the August harvest season, farmers' market sellers order three things most: labels for jars and packaging, a PVC banner or beach flag for the stall, and tote bags for customers.

Product labels: which material to choose

The choice mainly depends on where the jar or packaging will sit: on a dry shelf, in a fridge, or in a cold store with condensation.

Roll labels become cost-effective from a few thousand pieces, and only if you apply them with an applicator. For small batches — a seasonal jam, a new product, a test run — sheet labels with contour cutting are more practical, as several designs can be printed on one sheet. More on the options: sticker printing.

What usually needs to go on a food label

Product name, ingredients in descending order, allergens highlighted, net weight or volume, best-before date and batch number, storage conditions, manufacturer's name and address. If the product is heading to a shop shelf, you'll also need a barcode and a nutrition table. Practical tip: leave a blank field for the batch number and date, to be stamped on later with a date stamp or printer — that way you don't need a new batch of labels every time you cook up a new batch of jam.

We also print separate ingredients, instructions and translation stickers — handy if the product is exported, or if only one block of text has changed.

Market stall setup: banners, flags, posters

At a farmers' market, your name needs to be readable from 10–15 metres away. In practice, farms tend to go for three things:

  • PVC banners with eyelets — 2×1 m or 3×1 m, for the front of a table or the side of a tent, rain-resistant.
  • Beach flags (3–4 m tall) — visible well above people's heads, easy to transport, with a ground spike or cross base.
  • Roll-up banner stands, 85×200 cm — for indoor events, trade fairs in halls, Rural Support Service (LAD) and municipal events.
  • Posters, A3–A0 — for daily prices, a harvest calendar, or your farm's story.

For price tags, we recommend a matching set of A5/A6 cards with your farm logo and a blank space for the price — this looks much tidier than handwritten slips. See banners and roll-up stands and large-format printing.

Bags, clothing and small extras to hand out

A tote bag with your farm's logo works two ways at direct sales: the customer carries your produce home, and later walks around town with your name on it. Cotton tote bags with screen printing are cost-effective from 100 pieces; for smaller batches, DTF transfer works out cheaper. For your market team — matching T-shirts or aprons with the logo on the chest (standard area 110×90 mm) and on the back (up to 280×210 mm); embroidery up to 90×90 mm looks better on jackets and caps. More here: garment printing.

If your farm supports a local sports club, a run, or a harvest festival, inexpensive branded items come in handy — wristbands, keyrings, reflectors.

Prices and turnaround times

Below are indicative price ranges for the Latvian market, excluding VAT. The exact price depends on the print run, material, shape and number of printing colours.

Beach flag with base1 pcfrom ~€903–5 business days
Tote bag, 1-colour print100 pcsfrom ~€3.50/pc6–10 business days

For promotional products with printing, the standard turnaround is 6–10 business days: production takes 4–7 business days depending on quantity, plus 2–3 days for delivery. For urgent jobs ahead of a specific market date, we work by arrangement — just let us know the date straight away in your request.

Files and artwork

Vector graphics (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) in CMYK are the best option; raster images need 300 dpi at actual size. For labels, add 2–3 mm bleed and keep text at least 3 mm from the cut line. If your logo only exists as a JPG from an old business card, just let us know — we can redraw it in vector format for an additional fee.

Within one business day of your request, we send a quote online and as a PDF, with product images, prices, the printing area, set-up fee and turnaround time for each item; for promotional products, we can also show a 3D mock-up with your logo. The artwork must be approved by email before production begins.

Frequently asked questions

Will the labels withstand fridge moisture and condensation?

Yes, if you choose PP film — it doesn't get wet or peel off from condensation. A paper label in the fridge swells and changes colour, so we recommend it only for dry products: honey, flour, tea, bread.

How small can a label print run be?

In digital printing, we also work with small batches — 100–250 pieces per design, and several designs can be arranged on one sheet. The larger the print run, the lower the price per piece, so if you use 3,000 labels a year, it's more cost-effective to print them all at once.

Can you make a label in an irregular shape?

Yes. Contour cutting lets us cut a circle, oval, hexagon or any shape based on your artwork. The cutting line should be marked in the file as a separate vector path, or we can draw it for you.

How long does a PVC banner last at an outdoor market?

With normal use — several seasons, provided you roll it up rather than fold it after the event, and keep it dry. Eyelets every 50 cm around the perimeter help it withstand wind.

Can you print bags and T-shirts in small quantities?

Yes. Screen printing becomes cost-effective from 100 pieces, but we also do DTF transfer and embroidery from just a few pieces — for example, 5 T-shirts for your market team.

What if only the ingredients or best-before date changes?

We print separate ingredients or translation stickers that are applied over or next to the base label. This is cheaper than reprinting the whole batch of labels.

Send us your product list, approximate quantities and event date to info@attaprint.lv, call, or message us on WhatsApp +371 25776699 — we'll prepare a quote with prices, printing areas and turnaround times within one business day.
