Plant Tags with Logo: Materials, Signs and Bags for Plant Nurseries

How to choose weather-resistant plant tags with logo, garden signage and bags for your nursery — materials, print runs, turnaround times and indicative prices.

Plant tags with logo: materials, signs and bags for plant nurseries

Plant tags with logo only hold up well outdoors if they're made from a synthetic base — PP film or vinyl with lamination — rather than ordinary paper; such tags withstand moisture, watering and UV exposure for at least one full season, while laminated vinyl lasts two seasons or more. We print on both sheets and rolls, with contour cutting to any shape, from as little as 1 piece up to large print runs, and we prepare orders within 1–3 business days. November–February is the ideal time to order seasonal tags and signage, before the spring rush begins.

What tags a plant nursery needs

In practice, a nursery or garden centre uses several types of tags at once, and each has different requirements:

  • Variety tags for pots and containers — small-format stickers for the pot itself or a sticker on a plastic flag tag; resistance to watering and sunlight is essential.
  • Price and barcode tags — information often needs to be variable, so we print these on rolls to fit label printers or for manual application by quantity.
  • Care instruction stickers — text on watering, pruning, winter hardiness; often in two or three languages.
  • Composition and labelling stickers for substrates, fertiliser, seed packets — with batch numbers and translations.
  • Quality and origin tags featuring the nursery's logo, which the customer takes home — this doubles as advertising.

We print all these variants in our stickers section; for non-standard shapes, we cut to contour.

Material comparison

Indicative prices excl. VAT; the exact price depends on size, print run and whether contour cutting is required.

If a tag gets splashed with fertiliser solution or rubs against other pots, we recommend lamination — it protects the printed surface from wear.

Signage, signs and large-format prints for the grounds

Visitors to a nursery need to know where the apple trees end and the conifers begin. For this we use large-format printing: PVC boards for sector names, posters from A4 to A0 for indoor areas, and PVC banners at the entrance showing seasonal offers. For sales points and travelling fairs, a roll-up banner stand and beach flags are handy — they're easy to transport and can be set up in 2–3 minutes.

Practical tip: for outdoor signs, plan the text larger than you might think while designing. A variety name read from 2 metres needs letters at least 20–25 mm tall; a sector sign read from 10 metres needs letters at least 80 mm tall.

Bags, apparel and seasonal essentials

A tote bag with the nursery's logo works better in a garden centre than a plastic bag — customers reuse it. Drawstring bags are handy for seeds, bulbs and gift sets, while staff usually need printed T-shirts and hoodies before the season starts so customers can recognise them. For apparel printing we use screen printing for large runs, DTF transfer for smaller ones, and embroidery where a durable logo on a jacket or cap is needed — more details in our apparel printing section. The standard left-chest print area is 110×90 mm, while front and back prints go up to 280×210 mm, and embroidery up to 90×90 mm.

How to prepare files and how long to wait

Please send artwork as vector files (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) in CMYK; raster images at 300 dpi. For tags with small text, letter height should be no less than 5 pt — in damp conditions, tiny text becomes illegible.

Turnaround: our own printing (stickers, tags, posters, business cards) takes 1–3 business days. Promotional products with printing usually take 6–10 business days — production takes 4–7 business days depending on quantity, plus 2–3 days for delivery. Urgent jobs can be arranged by agreement. If you're planning for the April–May season, it's worth confirming your order in February, before production facilities reach peak capacity.

Frequently asked questions

How long do plant tags with logo last outdoors?

PP film and unlaminated vinyl last one season — withstanding moisture and watering. Laminated vinyl lasts 2–3 years outdoors, and printed PVC board lasts 3 years or more. It's usually not the print that wears out first, but the adhesive, if the surface was dirty or wet when applied.

Can I order a small print run for a single variety?

Yes. We print stickers and tags from as few as a few dozen pieces, and digital printing even from 1 piece. Small print runs have a higher per-piece cost, since machine setup is the same whether you print 50 or 5,000 tags, so it's often more cost-effective to combine several varieties on one sheet.

Can you print barcodes and variable data?

Yes, we can print barcodes, batch numbers and variety names as variable data if you send us a list in Excel or CSV format. We send the artwork for approval by email before printing the full run.

What stickers are suitable for substrate and fertiliser bags?

PP film stickers with strong adhesive hold well on plastic film bags. If the bag is dusty or stored outdoors, we recommend laminated vinyl, applied to a dry surface at a temperature of at least +10 °C.

Can bags and T-shirts be ordered together with print jobs?

Yes, we can combine tags and signage with promotional products with logo in a single quote. Only the turnaround times differ: printing is ready in 1–3 days, while printed products take 6–10 business days.

What does the quote look like?

Within one business day we send a quote online and as a PDF, with product images, prices, print location, setup fee and turnaround time listed for each item. On request, we can also prepare a 3D preview with your logo.

Send us your list of varieties, tag sizes and planned print run to info@attaprint.lv or message us on WhatsApp at +371 25776699 — we'll prepare a quote within one business day.
